Eric Trump stands by father Donald on Thanksgiving, tweets photo of #LeaveOurPresidentAlone hat
After Donald Trump Jr, it is time for another of President Donald Trump’s son to stand by his embattled father. Eric Trump, the president’s second son and third child from his first wife Ivana, tweeted a photo of a red hat on Thanksgiving with the abbreviation “LOPA” printed on it. And like “MAGA” meaning “Make America Great Again”, “LOPA” stands for “Leave Our President Alone”.
The 73-year-old president is currently facing an impeachment inquiry over allegations that he tried to pressure his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate his Democratic rival Joe Biden.
Eric, 35, posted the photo while Trump traveled to Afghanistan on a surprise visit to thank the troops stationed there. He boosted the soldiers and even served them dinner. However, Eric did not clarify whether the hats would be sold as merchandise for the Republican’s re-election campaign.
Impeachment hearings against Trump get intense
The impeachment proceedings, meanwhile, were taking serious turns and that could have been the reason for Trump’s son coming out in support for him.
House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler has set December 4 as the next impeachment hearing date and it will be the first hearing for the committee in the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry against Trump. Nadler is investigating Trump and sought a number of documents from the White House in March this year besides information from people and bodies close to the latter. He sent requests to as many as 81 groups, people and bodies to learn more about constitutional abuses and corruption by the American president.
The New York representative had then said the requests for documents are to “begin investigations, to present the case to the American people about obstruction of justice, about corruption and abuse of power.”
Other members of the Trump family have also stood by the president. Earlier this month, Trump’s elder son Donald Trump Junior came out with his book, 'Triggered', to prove that the left targets to smear conservatives and push them out of the public space, either through ‘shadow banning’ or through accusations of hate speech. It was also a sort of defense for his father’s presidency. It was also revealed that the Republican National Committee shelled out nearly $100,000 to buy the book even before it appeared for sale.
