Top cop breaks down while revealing details of 9-yr-old girl assaulted, mutilated and killed by stepmother, stepbrother, and his friends
On September 2, a nine-year-old girl's mutilated and decomposed body was found in a forest, a kilometre away from her home in Kashmir, India from where she had gone missing a week earlier. An examination of the crime scene and circumstances soon revealed something so horrible and chilling that the entire nation was shocked leading to protests in many cities and towns.
A senior police officer who was part of the investigation broke down as he recounted the events leading to the young girl's death — she was gang-raped by her step brother and three others, then she was attacked with an axe, her eyes were gouged out, and acid was poured on her body. The most shocking discovery was that the rape and the gruesome murder was planned by the girl's stepmother who had taken her to the forest where her son and his friends were lying in wait.
Imtiyaz Hussain, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Baramulla, told reporters that the authorities took a statement from the girl's father and he revealed that he had two wives. One of them is from a village nearby and the other is a non-local who comes from the state of Jharkhand. The child is the daughter of the second woman, reported the Hindustan Times.
