Top cop breaks down while revealing details of 9-yr-old girl assaulted, mutilated and killed by stepmother, stepbrother, and his friends
It has been alleged that the woman was under the impression that her husband showed his second wife and children more affection than her and her children.
On September 2, a nine-year-old girl's mutilated and decomposed body was found in a forest, a kilometre away from her home in Kashmir, India from where she had gone missing a week earlier. An examination of the crime scene and circumstances soon revealed something so horrible and chilling that the entire nation was shocked leading to protests in many cities and towns.
A senior police officer who was part of the investigation broke down as he recounted the events leading to the young girl's death — she was gang-raped by her step brother and three others, then she was attacked with an axe, her eyes were gouged out, and acid was poured on her body. The most shocking discovery was that the rape and the gruesome murder was planned by the girl's stepmother who had taken her to the forest where her son and his friends were lying in wait.
Imtiyaz Hussain, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Baramulla, told reporters that the authorities took a statement from the girl's father and he revealed that he had two wives. One of them is from a village nearby and the other is a non-local who comes from the state of Jharkhand. The child is the daughter of the second woman, reported the Hindustan Times.

The child's body was found in the woods about a kilometer away from her home and an examination of the area where her body was found made it clear to the authorities that she was murdered. A murder investigation was launched immediately. SSP Hussain said: "During sustained questioning of the step-mother of the deceased and other suspects, a bone-chilling and horrible account of the rape and murder of the nine-year-old child came to be known."
He also said that the stepmother had a grudge against her husband's second wife, the mother of the girl who died, as well as all her children. It has been alleged that she was under the impression her husband showed his other wife and children more affection than her and her children. She revealed to the investigators during the interrogation that her husband had spent most of his time with his other family and that he was closest to the 9-year-old girl.
The stepmother, Fahmeeda, took her stepdaughter to the nearby woods on August 24 and had carried along with her a sharp-edged knife. SSP Hussain said: "While she was on her way to the forest with her step-daughter, she signaled her son, aged 14, to be ready. He, later on, joined his mother in the forest, along with two of his friends - Kaiser Ahmad, aged 19 and another boy aged 14. Accused Naseer Ahmad Khan, 28, also joined them."
He then added that the child had been allegedly gang-raped by the stepbrother at the insistence of his mother. SSP Hussain said: "It was Kaiser who first raped her and then all others, including her step-brother, took turns to rape the girl. Thereafter, the step-mother strangulated the girl and her step-brother hit her head with an axe, killing her on spot.
"After that, one of the accused went back to his home and brought acid. Then the girl’s eyes were gouged out and acid was sprinkled on her body. Physical condition and preliminary forensic analysis of dead body substantiated all these facts." Two of the men who have been accused of the crime then disposed of her body in the bushes and covered it up with twigs and branches. SSP Hussain added: "All the material and weapons including axe and knife have been recovered at the instance of the accused."
