'Schitt's Creek', the family comedy-drama show created by Dan and Eugene Levy, has swept the 2020 Emmy Awards' comedy category. With a total of eight nominations, the beloved Canadian show won the categories of Outstanding Comedy Series; Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Eugene Levy as Johnny Rose; Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Catherine O'Hara as Moira Rose; Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Dan Levy as David Rose; Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Annie Murphy as Alexis Rose; Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series; Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

While the Pop TV show, which was tied with Prime Video's 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' with eight nominations, received congratulations from all quarters on the internet, there were also those who were suspicious of the comedy series's multiple wins. One Twitter user,  in disbelief over the show's numerous wins, wrote, "Is it just me, or did Schitt’s Creek pay out the #Emmys to win ALL the awards!?? Wtf," while another, talking about the same, rhetorically tweeted, "how much money did schitt’s creek pay the academy..."

Blaming 2020 for the outcome of the Emmys an angry sounding fan of the award ceremony tweeted, "WHAT THE F**K! Did Schitt's Creek pay for the Emmy's this year? Did no one vote? What the absolute hell is going on? 2020 sucks! #TheEmmys," while another, calling the seven wins 'unreal', wrote, "Schitt’s Creek again ????? How much did these pay the accountants cuz this is unreal. Wow just wow #Emmys"

A different user, who admitted 'Schitt's Creek' is funny while questioning the various wins, wrote, "Now 'Schitt’s Creek' is funny but who the hell did they pay off to get all these awards #Emmys," while another fan simply asked, "How much did Schitt’s Creek pay to the Emmys!? #Emmys2020"

Some fans were angrier than the rest as one said, "who the F**K did the cast and crew of Schitt's Creek pay to make the Emmy's this boring," while another user, slamming 'Schitt's Creek' openly, wrote, "@TheEmmys @TelevisionAcad Schitt’s Creek is not funny. We know this year got bought. This is shameful."

'Schitt's Creek' is a show about the Roses, an erstwhile wealthy family that go bankrupt after an unfortunate business snafu. Forced to relocate to a small time named 'Schitt's Creek', which the family's patriarch purchased as a gag years ago, Johnny, Moira, David and Alexis have to face their fears while getting used to the new rural town and its simple people. The show aired from January 13, 2015 to April 7, 2020 and consists of 80 episodes spread over six seasons. It's known and praised for it's sensitive and realistic portrayal of LGBTQ relationships.
