Elisabeth Moss starrer 'The Handmaid's Tale' renewed for season 4, but fans split on whether the resistance is worth it

The news of the renewal itself comes when Hulu is just about to wrap up the third season of the show with 3 episodes until the finale. This has made it pretty clear the resistance, that all of us have been waiting for in season 3 may not completely take shape.

'The Handmaid's Tale' has been renewed by Hulu for yet another season but is it really necessary? After season 3's mediocre 10 episodes which have stretched June Osborne and her journey pretty thin, the news of renewal has not left all fans of the show happy. 'The Handmaid's Tale' will continue to portray June Osborne's journey in and beyond Gilead now that she has come up with a masterplan to seek revenge on Gilead and its High Commanders.

The news of the renewal itself comes when Hulu is just about to wrap up the third season of the show with 3 episodes until the finale. This has made it pretty clear the resistance, that all of us have been waiting for in season 3 may not completely take shape.

Yes, the third season was one of the most anticipated for a television show with talks of a big scale revolt set to take place in Gilead, but none of that has happened so far and if we were to go by June's plan so far in season 3, the resistance might not even begin this season.

For one, this season might end with another planned escape from Gilead. Only this time, it is a truck full of children instead of one handmaid and a baby who will possibly escape. Also, if June has her way, then Eleanor and her husband Commander Lawrence, who has recently been helping June with quite a few things, may also set off to cross the wall.

The official Instagram handle of the show shared a video and captioned it, "The Resistance is only getting stronger.  Season 4 of The #HandmaidsTale is happening!" Fans of the show have since been flooding social media sites with congratulatory messages.

One fan wrote, "Muffins mean yessssss! Let’s burn this place." However, not everyone is happy with the way things have turned out in season 3. Quite a few took to Reddit to express Hulu may stretch the show enough to run as long as eight seasons as it is the service's most successful show which has fetched 11 Emmys over the period of two seasons.

One fan commented on the Instagram post, "Hopefully better than the 3rd when it comes to actionnnnnn [sic]." User TwoUglyFeet on Reddit wrote, "Season with 3/4 filler episodes that do nothing in [a] meaningful way. June mumbling under her breath how much of a terrorist she wants to be to Gilead. Private' refrigerator conversations in a grocery store filled with guardians. 'This will get you killed'. Everyone dies except for June. Ridiculous Nick/June scenes because ~nick/june~ even though that plotline should have finished in S1. June faces. Calling it right now."

This is in response to the pace of the show in its third season, which at many places seemed repetitive. Another fan wrote, "So basically, all the revolution PR was aimed and about those watching the series and saving it for another season? Makes more sense."
