Teacher fired for dragging 9-year-old autistic boy by his wrists through school hallway in viral surveillance video
An elementary school teacher in Kentucky has been fired after surveillance footage of her dragging an autistic nine-year-old boy through the hallway of the school by his wrist went viral on social media. The resource teacher, who has now been identified as Trina Abrams, was seen in the footage dragging the child at the Wurtland Elementary School in Greenup County in October 2018.
The school district has now announced that she was terminated on January 7. This was one day after the child's mother, Angel Nelson, posted the video on Facebook and asked that Abrams be held accountable.
The Daily Mail reported that Nelson said her son has very limited speech and has been diagnosed with autism, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. The furious stay-at-home mother accused the teacher of being so vicious with her son, that he sustained injuries and his shoes were destroyed.
