Ed Sheeran sparks marriage rumours after he's seen wearing a ring on his left hand at London gig
At the end of 2017, Ed Sheeran announced that he proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn. Now, fans suspect that he may have already married his girlfriend in secret nuptials.
It was to be just another Ed Sheeran concert at London's War Child BRITs Week in the O2 arena on Monday, February 19. But fans who turned up at the singer's gig couldn't take their eyes off a gold band that rested on the third finger of his left hand. The ring, which looked very much like a wedding band, sparked rumors that he secretly married his childhood sweetheart Cherry Seaborn.
We wouldn't be surprised if Ed and Cherry tied the knot in a private ceremony. After all, the couple has been secretive about their relationship for many years. The Shape of You singer, who's rarely spoken about his relationship, wrote an Instagram post declaring that he was officially engaged to the 25-year-old consultant at the end of 2017 but didn't specify details about their wedding.
At his gig in London's O2, Ed told the crowd that he was extremely happy with Cherry. He said, "I find myself getting really excited about kitchen appliances now. I promise this song isn't about kitchen appliances...I'm excited about wearing [glasses]. Can you believe, I've reached a stage in my life where I'm actually excited about my spectacles?" The Sun reported.
These statements intrigued his fans further, who seemed convinced that the couple did get married. According to Daily Mail, the Perfect singer was seen with a ring since February 10 but could it be just a nod to his engagement with Cherry? Only time, or in this case, Ed will tell us, hopefully.
Ed and Cherry started dating in 2015 after they attended Taylor Swift's house party. A few months later, they were seen at the Mets Game in September that year. Cherry and Ed were also spotted partying with Calvin Harris in Las Vegas in 2015.
The couple first met at Thomas Mills High in Suffolk, England, where they were high school students. They lost touch after Ed dropped out to pursue a career in music. According to Billboard, Ed took a break from music in 2016 to focus on his relationship. He told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, "The catalyst of taking a year off was also the fact that my partner quit her job in New York, which she’s now got back in London, which is really cool. But we were just basically like, 'Let’s quit our jobs and have a year of forming a tight bond.' So we went traveling and spent every day for a year together."
