The social media update posted by Easton's family on Wednesday read, "This morning’s updates have us all in tears of joy. We couldn’t be more proud of our Easton, and more grateful for the prayers that have helped him get to this point." It also said that Easton is no longer sedated, and started to wake up and asked for water on Wednesday morning. The doctors said this is good because it usually takes a week or two for patients to usually have the desire to eat or drink after having gotten their breathing tube out!
The family wrote in the post, "This is big!" He has been waving at Jace and Nancy, and mouthing the words “I love you.” The doctors asked him if he knew his name and he said, “Easton.” They asked him if he knew his age and he said, “12.”
Easton’s favorite baseball player Mookie Betts sent him a video showing his support. Jace showed him the video on Wednesday morning, and he started to cry. The post caption read, "All 110 of your brothers here at BYU are cheering you on. Easton’s all time favorite football team sent him this thoughtful video today💙🤍 GO COUGS!!"
Easton was able to suck water through a straw and the nurse was able to feed him a couple of spoonfuls of vanilla pudding! A video showed him smacking his lips. The family wrote, "We think he liked it."
In a separate social media post, the Oliverson family shared their "very exciting and special update" about an alternate player for Easton's game. They wrote, "With Easton being injured, the Utah -Snow Canyon Allstars 2022 are down a player going into their first game this Friday. Throughout the normal little league season, Easton and his younger brother Brogan had the opportunity of playing on the same team. Prior to the Utah All stars tournament, Brogan was selected as an alternate player for the team."
The family said they are thrilled to announce that Brogan has been invited to take Easton’s spot on Team Utah for the World Series tournament. He is so excited to not only take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity, but to be able to play for his big brother who won’t be able to. Their first game is this Friday, at 1 pm MST. Go Team Utah!!"
