At his last rally as the president of the United States, in Dalton, Georgia, on Monday, January 4, Donald Trump hinted that he might have a falling out with Vice President Mike Pence, who is tasked with overseeing the certification of the Electoral College vote count on Wednesday if he doesn't actively try to overturn the presidential election results.

“I hope that Mike Pence comes through for us, I have to tell you. I hope that our great vice president, our great vice president comes through for us. He’s a great guy,” Trump told a crowd of supporters at the rally. “Of course, if he doesn’t come through, I won’t like him quite as much,” Trump continued. “Nah, Mike is a great guy. He’s a wonderful man and a smart man and a man that I like a lot.”

Although the POTUS did not elaborate on what he actually wanted Pence to do, he made the remarks on the VP after insisting that he won “in a landslide” and claimed the election was “rigged” against him. “But he’s going to have a lot to say about it and you know one thing with him, you’re going to get straight shots. He’s going to call it straight,” Trump said.

The clip of Trump's veiled threat against Pence went viral on social media as people started mocking his remarks. "I don’t remember these people being this mad when McCain or Romney lost," one of them said, while another wrote, "Sage words from the playpen..." A third remarked, "All I hear, is blah blah blah, I'm making this up as I go along #TrumpIsALaughingStock." One more commented, "I’m not so sure about the 'straight' shots from Pence. Let’s ask Mother."

Another wrote, "He had his attorney Lin Wood threaten to execute Pence with a firing squad. No way is Pence going to come through for him." The next quipped, "You know, at this point, I'm not convinced Mike will not try to 'come through' tomorrow. It might ben 2021 now, but everything is still possible..." A commenter tweeted, "Pence still hasn't given him the reassurance he's looking for."

"I like how he’s there to try and hype these people for the senate race and he really has no interest in doing that," a person noted. One more added, "He’s about to turn on Pence. Had to happen." Another commented, "Mike’s toast." One more wrote, "So what do they think Pence is gonna do? Grab the box of envelopes and run like Hell?"

We previously reported that Pence seemed disinterested in getting on board with a plan that would prevent Congress from certifying the election in January for President-elect Joe Biden. Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert and Arizona's slate of Republican Electoral College electors filed a federal lawsuit earlier this week in a bid to get a judge to declare that Pence had the ultimate discretion to pick Republican electors when he certifies the presidential election in his capacity as President of the Senate.

A legal filing in the case suggested that Gohmert and the electors' lawyers had tried to work out a deal with Pence but failed, thereby prompting the lawsuit, Politico reported. "In the teleconference, Plaintiff's counsel made a meaningful attempt to resolve the underlying legal issues by agreement, including advising the Vice President's counsel that Plaintiffs intended to seek immediate injunctive relief in the event the parties did not agree," Gohmert's filing stated. "Those discussions were not successful in reaching an agreement and this lawsuit was filed."
