The President of the United States seems to be having a no good, very bad day, leading him to take out his frustrations on Twitter over the recent developments. Social media then proceeded to coin the hashtag #TrumpMeltdown to react to the president's barrage of tweets on July 9.

On July 9, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that Trump cannot block a subpoena by prosecutors in the Southern District of New York seeking information about the president's finances before he took office. Though the court decision is a loss for Trump, litigation is likely to continue, with the revelation of any new information about Trump's tax returns likely delayed until after the 2020 elections.

In response to the new court decision, as always, Trump took to social media to send out a string of tweets that blame almost everybody else except him. Before his tweets on the decision, Trump took to insisting that the number of Covid-19 confirmed cases in the United States are high due to testing. There are over 3.1M confirmed cases of coronavirus in the US, with over 133,000 deaths according to data by Johns Hopkins University. Trump had tweeted, "For the 1/100th time, the reason we show so many Cases, compared to other countries that haven’t done nearly as well as we have, is that our TESTING is much bigger and better. We have tested 40,000,000 people. If we did 20,000,000 instead, Cases would be half, etc. NOT REPORTED!"

In response, political scientist Ian Bremmer tweeted, "Testing increased nationwide in the US by 7% over the past week. COVID cases rose by 24%." Another user wrote, "Dude, the reason I work with elementary school kids is because I need to know more math than they do! WTF? 1/100? .01 times? This doesn’t make sense. I want our next President to understand fifth grade math. #TrumpMeltdown."

Later, Trump tweeted one of his favorite phrases, "PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!" He then wrote, "'We know what took place. We have already seen criminality. What is happening? Biggest political scandal of our time.' @MariaBartiromo You are 100% correct, Maria, it is a disgrace that nothing happens. Obama and Biden spied on my campaign, AND GOT CAUGHT... BUT NOTHING!" He continued, "PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT!"

Trump then tweeted, "The Supreme Court sends case back to Lower Court, arguments to continue. This is all a political prosecution. I won the Mueller Witch Hunt, and others, and now I have to keep fighting in a politically corrupt New York. Not fair to this Presidency or Administration!" He then started a thread consisting of numerous tweets that started with, "We have a totally corrupt previous Administration, including a President and Vice President who spied on my campaign, AND GOT CAUGHT... and nothing happens to them. This crime was taking place even before my election, everyone knows it, and yet all are frozen stiff with fear."

In response, many took to mocking the president over his reaction to the Supreme Court decision. One user tweeted, "If only there'd been some indication that Donald Trump lacked the intellectual and emotional maturity to handle the presidency. #TrumpMeltdown." Another wrote, "Now is a good time to remind everyone that Trump isn’t running FOR reelection, he’s running FROM prosecution. #TrumpMeltdown."

One user opined, "If anyone has any doubt Trump has something to hide – Russian masters, cooked books, profiting from the presidency & pandemic? – all they need to do is look at his unhinged response to today’s #SCOTUS rulings. The truth WILL eventually come out & he knows it. #TrumpMeltdown." Another wrote, "Kind of funny that the guy who promised to show his taxes is going bats**t insane over having to show his taxes. #TrumpMeltdown."
