Trump slammed for saying Biden presidency would get ‘no ratings’: ‘Boring news sounds awesome’

"Trump is more concerned about TV ratings and muzzling public health experts in the middle of a pandemic than the health and well-being of the American people," California Senator Kamala Harris tweeted

President Donald Trump came under fire on Monday, July 13, for suggesting that people should not vote for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in the upcoming elections because he will not bring in good TV ratings.

"Is this what you want for your President??? With no ratings, media will go down along with our great USA!" he tweeted, along with a video of the former vice president where Biden seemed a little lost during an event and kept telling people seemingly waiting outside to come in.

"The only way to deal with the abuse of power is with power and labor," Biden is seen telling the people gathered at the event, before getting distracted by a sound which seemed like pouring rainfall. "If it's raining outside come on in guys," he said as the other people in the event looked confused. "I don't want anybody out there... are you guys in the rain? Is that not rain? I thought... ok, I thought that was rain. It is? You guys can come on in. Don't stay out there." The video was edited with the intention of mocking Biden and even has cartoonish music playing in the background.

The reaction to POTUS' tweet was mostly negative, with people criticizing Trump for caring about TV ratings more than properly running the country. "Trump is more concerned about TV ratings and muzzling public health experts in the middle of a pandemic than the health and well-being of the American people," California Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) tweeted. Author John Pavlovitz commented: "Hey @realDonaldTrump, looks like your #ratings with good, intelligent non-racists, now reside just below explosive diarrhea. Have a nice day. #VoteBiden."

Economist David Rothschild wrote: "News media may be upset at lower rating for news, but how f**king awesome would it be for the rest of us to not have to watch the news constantly to learn about what horrible thing just happened. Boring news sounds awesome!!!" CNN Political Analyst Joe Lockhart commented: "Even with 140K dead, @realDonaldTrump still believes you measure a President's success by TV ratings. Sad."

Editor-In-Chief of Politicus USA, Sarah Reese Jones said: "Ratings are why we have this failed businessman as president in the first place. How’s that working for 137,787 and rising fast people who died from the coronavirus."

Only a couple of days ago, Trump criticized Biden on his efficiency in working towards the economy of the country while slamming him for other issues. Trump's tweet read, "Does anyone notice that the real polls, as opposed to the fake suppression polls also used in 2016, are starting to define sleepy Joe Biden as someone totally ill-equipped to control the radical left, crime, cancel culture, or to even come close to me on rebuilding the economy?"

At the time, he got slammed as people accused his administration of failing to curb the coronavirus pandemic in the US. One user tweeted, "How about these numbers @realDonaldTrump!??! The leading cause of death in America is @realDonaldTrump. And he doesn’t care. He would step over hundreds of thousands of American bodies to win reelection."

Another added, "Excuse me, Mr. President. Are you going to address the Covid-19 pandemic today? Or perhaps you’re just going to pardon a few more of your criminal friends and continue to pretend that everything is fine?" An agitated user noted, “#TrumpGate Since he was impeached nothing has changed with the most corrupt president in our history."
