Trump holds rally in Freeland flouting safety norms amid Covid-19 pandemic, Internet says 'he doesn't care'

Thousands of Trump supporters descended on Freeland, Michigan, on September 10, 2020, for the president's first campaign rally in the state for the Elections 2020. Trump won by less than 11,000 votes, which is about two-tenths of a percentage point in the 2016 elections, becoming the first Republican presidential nominee to carry the state since George HW Bush in 1988.

But this year when the US is leading with the highest number of Covid-19 cases and deaths, the rally came under a negative light. Most polls show Joe Biden leading in this year’s race, although some suggest Trump is closing the gap, giving Republicans optimism that he can carry the State again, just like last time.

Biden holds a 4.2 percentage point lead in Michigan, down from an eight-point lead at the end of July, according to the website RealClearPolitics' polling average. During the rally, thousands of people came together to support Trump in Freeland, and many more ridiculed him for conducting a rally amid the time of a pandemic when America is leading the number of cases and deaths in the world.

As soon as his rally began in the state, people started sharing photos and also their concern about the after-effects of the rally, as one person who was allegedly present at the rally shared a snap and said, "Hello from Freeland, MI where hundreds await @realDonaldTrump at an indoor/outdoor rally. Attendees have their temp checked as they arrive & masks are free. I’d say 5-10% are wearing masks. Michigan limits any large gathering to 250 people. Trump calls these 'peaceful protests'."

Another user showed fury by saying, "@whitehouse said they no longer check temps cuz that’s worthless, ½ of coronavirus spread by folks who have no symptoms. But good on you Freeland. You prove you don’t care bout the extra 100,000 Americans that Trump’s fav covid modeler says will die by Jan 1. How Christian."

"Yes, I love the sense of delusion that comes from a massive packed crowd of the stupidest people on planet Earth ignoring that we’re in a pandemic even though their selfish obliviousness has already killed 200,000. It’s so reassuring. Let freeDUMB reign in Freeland! #Covid_19," said another furious user.

Some angry users shared the news on twitter saying, "If Michigan has an increase of covid cases because of this ridiculous rally (it most likely will) I’ll have to stay home and skip apple picking the one event I thought we might still get to do," while another one said, "Trump doesn’t care about the health of Americans - including this own supporters. He cares only about himself. He’s holding another Covid-19 super-spreader rally in Michigan. #TrumpKnew #TrumpDoesntCare."

Another speculated what this rally can do to the state, saying, "Trump leads in Covid-19 deaths & through his Lies from the beginning & today in Michigan shows that he does not care if more people die (even his supporters). Tonight's mask-less packed body Rally will result in more sickness & death. Trump, however, won’t go into the crowd."
