Trump mocks Biden for wearing mask, Angry Internet brands POTUS 'disrespectful a**' and says 'he needs to go!'

President Donald Trump on September 3, 2020, mocked Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden for wearing a face mask even as the USA continues to lead the world with the highest number of Covid-19 cases, with 6.16 million infections and over 187,000 deaths.

Speaking to a largely mask-less crowd in Pennsylvania, Trump asked his supporters if they know "a man that likes a mask as much" as Biden. "It gives him a feeling of security," the President said. "If I was a psychiatrist, I'd say this guy has some big issues."

Trump's comments, which came the day after the US topped 185,000 Covid-19 deaths, counters to the advice of the public health experts in the USA, who have emphasized the importance of covering face amid the country's reopening, as, asymptomatic people could unknowingly transmit the virus. Masks are primarily to prevent people who have the virus from infecting others.

However, this wasn't the first time when Trump politicized wearing masks, as earlier in May, he shared a tweet mocking Biden for wearing one at a Memorial Day ceremony. In response, Biden called Trump "an absolute fool" in an interview with CNN's Dana Bash the next day. "This macho stuff, for a guy, I shouldn't get going, but it just, it costs people's lives. It's costing people's lives," Biden said. He added: "Presidents are supposed to lead, not engage in folly and be falsely masculine."

While the President tweeted an image of himself wearing a face mask and indirectly called the act "patriotic" in June, the shift seemed primarily motivated by the struggling poll numbers, a source familiar with Trump's thinking previously told CNN.

As soon as the President made the comment, the Internet retorting to it saying, "What a DISRESPECTFUL A** you are! You made fun of Joe Biden for wearing a mask! You could give a nickle about the 190,000 citizens who have died. These people died DUE to YOUR DENIALS and NEGLIGENCE in dealing with this pandemic! IT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THIS WAY! HOAX IS YOU!" and "#Trump mocks #JoeBiden for wearing a mask His OWN GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES say that people should wear masks."

"Trump needs to go! Standing there making fun of Joe Biden for wearing a mask as we are supposed to be doing, makes Trump look more disgraceful than he already is! #DumpTrump2020 #BidenHarris2020Landslide," demanded another user. While some said, "Hateful, corrupt Donald will: 1. LOSE the election 2. LIE and say the votes were inaccurate somehow, then 3. LOITER, or try to use the military to illegally stay in the oval office. Congress needs to plan their response to that lawlessness now!" and "Let's stop calling him president, even though he was elected we don't have a leader of the United States."

Some took Biden's side by saying, "Joe wears a mask to keep the seniors alive. And also being a senior himself," and "Yes, I have seen men that love masks as much as Joe Biden. They are intelligent men." Another user claimed, "Mocking someone for modeling responsibility and empathy for others, concepts he can’t understand."
