Donald Trump Jr's electoral map: Upsetting Indians and finally finding those Republican penguins
Donald Trump Jr raised eyebrows online after he jokingly sharing a poorly-drawn world map that showed countries marked in red and blue to suggest their respective inclinations towards his father or Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. Of course, the world map shared by President DonaldTrump's eldest son had barely any wins marked for Biden. These included traditionally ‘blue’ states of New York and California, and countries China, Mexico, India, and Liberia. However, Don Jr ensured that the South Pole went to the Republicans — causing quite a stir online.

Trump's apparent victory in Antarctica was a shocker for many online, inspiring a flurry of memes about penguins voting for the former real estate mogul in droves. "Huge turn out in Antarctica but nothing is for certain. Despite most voters in this area being penguins, things are rarely this black and white,” one wrote. "How many mail-in ballots did you receive from penguins and polar bears?" another user wrote.
"Lololol Don Jr can’t even come up with his prediction map himself, he cribbed it from 4chan. And here I thought he knew something about making Kashmir great again and fascist penguins that we didn’t," a third chimed in. "I love the fact that Antarctica is a supporter but Croatia which earlier this year held presidency over EU is straight-up missing on the map? Glad to see you at least have great & peaceful relations with the Penguin Empire," another wrote. Netizens were also confused about Liberia 'voting' for Biden as they failed to see any obvious links between the two.

I love the fact that Antarctica is a supporter but Croatia🇭🇷 which earlier this year held presidency over EU🇪🇺 is straight up missing on the map? 👍 Glad to see you at least have great & peaceful relations with the Penguin Empire. 🐧👑

I just noticed Liberia (I think) is blue... Why is Liberia the only pro Biden country in Africa? This is a real rabbit hole

Meanwhile, some appeared to take it rather seriously. One pointed to data suggesting that Canadians and Europeans, in fact, would probably vote for the former vice president over the POTUS if they had the opportunity. Many others couldn't understand why Don Jr chose to paint India blue, considering both Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi often tout their friendship. What's more? The controversial map also suggested the independence of the heavily-disputed Kashmir region.
"I thought your dad had a great relationship with India tho," one user tweeted. "The price of Namo’s bromance: Kashmir & the NorthEast cut off from the rest of India, & the whole 'filthy' place relegated by Don Jr to the realm of hostiles, along with China and Mexico. So much for the crores spent on obsequious serenading stadium events!" Indian politician Shashi Tharoor added. "Don Jr throwing his support to Pakistani sovereignty over Kashmir is not how I saw election day beginning. But hey it’s 2020," writer Ben Rhodes posted.

Upon further inspection by eagled-eyed social media observers, several more inconsistencies were unearthed. Netizens noted how the map left several nations blank, including the United Arab Emirates, Armenia, and Croatia. Meanwhile, the Black, Caspian, and Aral seas were colored as Republican strongholds. “Please every time I look there’s something new. why is the UAE not colored in. why are the black sea and caspian sea red. why does only half of Norway go red,” one user wrote. "So he didn't color: Palestine Lebanon Armenia Ukrainian Bessarabia Croatia But he did color: The Black Sea The Caspian Sea," another pointed out.

Nonetheless, it was eventually revealed that the president's son had simply "borrowed" the graphic from another conservative social media user and likely shared it to portray a landslide victory for his father.
