Trump walks out of press meet after Paula Reid fact-checks him, Internet says he 'hates strong women'
President Donald Trump claimed that he and his administration were the first to get the Veterans Choice and Veterans Accountability Act out in a press conference on Saturday, August 8. "Why do you keep saying that you passed Veterans Choice?" questioned journalist Paula Reid. As soon as she asked the question, the entire crowd at Trump's golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, erupted with loud cheering for her.
Amid the thundering response of the room, she continued her question. "You said that you passed Veterans Choice, it was passed in 2014. It is a false statement, Sir." That was the moment Trump decided to walk away from the podium after delivering his final "Thank you". This abrupt scurrying away from the press conference has once again made Trump the butt of jokes on the Internet while also raising a question among citizens if the President is scared of strong women.
"Trump hates strong women. The scheming liar hates it, even more, when strong women kick his ass & the whole world sees it. Thank you, Paula Reid! #TrumpPressConference #TrumpsCovidCoverup #COVID__19 #TrumpCantRideABike Veterans Choice Paula Reid Executive Orders Social Security," wrote a user.

"He walks out because every time a smart/powerful woman challenges him he wants to call her a b***h and tell her 'you're not my type'. Even with his Satan induced dementia, he knows that will cost him votes. He's leaving because of a lack of self-control. #TrumpPressConference" wrote another user.

"This is the third time in 2020 Trump walked out on his own press conference when a female reporter questions him. Childish and disgraceful—like the applause of Trump's Bedminster cowards. Vote out Trump. Vote out Republicans. Watch Andrea Mitchell's eyeroll. #TrumpPressConference," read another tweet.

The Choice program in question was signed into law by former President Barack Obama in 2014. The law, which allowed eligible veterans to be covered by the government for care provided by doctors outside the VA system, was a bipartisan initiative spearheaded by two senators, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and the late John McCain of Arizona. What Trump signed was a 2018 law, the VA MISSION Act, that modified and expanded the eligibility criteria for the Choice program.
