'Domestic terrorist' coast guard officer plotted to kill Democrats, reporters for 'white homeland'
A United States Coast Guard lieutenant was arrested on February 15 for planning a terror attack, according to court documents. The coast guard official, identified as Christopher Paul Hasson, was arrested by authorities on gun and drug charges, and four days after his arrest, federal prosecutors in a motion wrote that those charges were just the "tip of the proverbial iceberg."
Federal prosecutors, in the court filing, wrote: "The defendant is a domestic terrorist bent on committing acts dangerous to human life that are intended to affect governmental conduct.” Hasson, a self-identified white nationalist from Silver Spring, Maryland, was reportedly stockpiling weapons to "murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country," the prosecutors stated this week.
According to prosecutors, Hasson, who was assigned at the US Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, DC, wrote about establishing an ethno-state, acknowledging that violence was required to reach this goal.
