Lindsey Lagestee, the founding member of Dixie Crush, a Midwest country band, has passed away at 25.

The lead singer of the band was on her way to a concert that she was performing in Chicago on February 14, 2020. On her way to Firewater Saloon, she was hit by a vehicle. Jim Nonneman, a Dixie Crush member confirmed this news with Taste of Country on Thursday.

Nonneman said, "She had just parked a couple of blocks down for the club we were scheduled to play. She exited her pickup truck and was making her way to the venue when she was struck by a car."

Lagestee passed away on Monday, February 17, and the band confirmed this in a post they had shared on Facebook. The band's statement read, "To our Dixie Crush family, aka the #CrushCrew, thank you so much for the outpouring of love and support these past few days. Some of you may have already heard the terrible news, but It is with the heaviest of hearts, we sadly share that Lindsey Renee passed away on Monday due to complications from the accident last Friday. Our hearts are broken over this senseless tragedy."

"Over the past 5 years, the band played more than 250 shows. Like a true professional, it made no difference to Lindsey whether we were playing to 40,000 people at Arlington Racecourse, a few thousand people at Parkway Bank Park in Rosemont, a few hundred people at a community festival, or the last 25 patrons at 1:00 am at a club, Lindsey cherished every moment on stage and put her heart and soul into every song…every performance," continued the statement.

"Above and beyond being an incredible performer, great friend, and the best bandmate, Lindsey was a loving daughter to Linda and Vaughn, compassionate sister to Lauren, Carrie, and Samantha, adoring aunt to Andrew, Colin, Danielle, Alexander, and Amber, and wonderful girlfriend to Kevin," read the end of the statement that also had details of the services and funeral arrangements and a GoFundMe page that was set up by the family to help with expenses.

According to her Lagestee's obituary, she was also a published pharmacist and has her PharmD doctorate from Midwestern University.
