'The Voice' Season 19: Kelly Clarkson picks Desz as Gwen steals Joseph Soul, fans say they sound 'like butter'

Episode 7 of the ‘The Voice’ Season 19 started with the battle round of Desz and Joseph Soul from Team Kelly Clarkson. The talented singers took over the stage with the cover of ‘If You Don’t Know Me By Now’ by the Philadelphia soul musical group Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. Looking at the reaction of all the coaches, both the singers completely knocked their performance out of the park.

Left completely impressed, coaches Gwen Stefani, John Legend, Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson showered the battle round contestants with praises. After looking at the performances, Kelly picked Desz over Joseph Soul in the end saying she can almost sing everything. However, before Soul could leave the stage, Gwen Stefani stole the singer to pick him for her team.

The Internet also seemed impressed with the singers. One user said, “I have done that song so many times and Desz just blew me away. She took it places I'd never have even thought. God! In the first round of the battles of ‘The Voice’ Season 19, we saw Blake Shelton opting for the mother-daughter trio Worth the Wait over Taryn Papa and the later was stolen by John Legend. Blake also picked Jus Jon in the other round from his team over Payton Lamar.  If we talk about John Legend, he went for Tamara Jade over Olivia Reyes and Bailey Rae over Sid Kingsley. The latter moved to Team Kelly after she used the “steal” option to make sure his journey doesn’t end on the singing reality show. Kelly Clarkson chose Madeline Consoer over Eli Zamora from her team whereas, Gwen Stefani voted Payge Turner over the 16-year-old Lauren Frihauf from her squad. The latter picked John Legend as her coach after he and Blake used the “steal” option to make her stay in the competition.

R&B icon Usher, who has been a coach in one of the earlier seasons of ‘The Voice’ also returned as a Mega Mentor on Season 19 of the singing reality show. The battle rounds will see the coaches enlisting the music industry powerhouses Leon Bridges, Miguel, Kane Brown and Julia Michaels to prepare their artists to go head-to-head in hope of advancing to the knockouts. Kane Brown will work with Team Blake, Julia Michaels joins Team Gwen, Leon Bridges assists Team Kelly, while Miguel will lend his support to Team Legend.

The new season of ‘The Voice’ is being hosted by Carson Daly. Season 19 episodes will be aired on NBC. Fans can also catch the singing reality show on the official website of NBC and on their official app along with the network's new streaming service Peacock.
