‘Death of Me’: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about horror starring Maggie Q and Luke Hemsworth
October is the month of spooks and amazingly enough, despite production hitches and lockdowns, Hollywood has several horror films in line. One of those is a feature by the name of ‘Death Of Me’. Here’s all you need to know about it.
Release date
‘Death of Me’ will hit select theaters on October 2. The feature film will also be available on digital and on-demand on the same date.
Plot
‘Death Of Me’ follows a couple, vacationing on an island off the coast of Thailand. One day, Neil and Christine wake up hungover and with no memory of the previous night. They find footage on Neil's camera, and watch, horrified, as Neil appears to murder Christine.
But Christine is alive, which makes their confusion all the more potent. With twenty-four hours until the next ferry and a typhoon threatening the island, Christine and Neil attempt to reconstruct the night's events -- and are snared in a web of mystery, black magic, and murder.
Cast
Maggie Q as Christine
Born Margaret Denise Quigley, the 41-year-old American actor and model is best known for films like ‘Mission: Impossible III’, ‘Live Free or Die Hard’, ‘Priest’, ‘Fantasy Island’, ‘Divergent’, ‘Insurgent’, and ‘Allegiant’. On television, Q starred as the titular lead in The CW action-thriller series ‘Nikita’, and as FBI Special Agent Hannah Wells in the political thriller series ‘Designated Survivor’.
Luke Hemsworth as Neil
The 39-year-old Australian actor is known for his roles as Nathan Tyson in the TV series ‘Neighbours’ and as Ashley Stubbs in the HBO sci-fi series ‘Westworld’. He is the older brother of Chris and Liam Hemsworth and has starred in films like ‘The Reckoning’, ‘Kill Me Three Times’, ‘Encounter’, ‘We Are Boats’, and more.
Creators
‘Death Of Me’ is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, based on a screenplay written by Arli Margolis, James Morley III and David Tish. Bousman is best known for his work on the ‘Saw’ franchise. He wrote and directed ‘Saw II’ in 2005, and further directed ‘Saw III’ and ‘Saw IV’. Bousman also directed the much-anticipated ‘Saw’ sequel, ‘Spiral’, starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson, which is scheduled to be released on May 21, 2021, after being delayed from its original release date of May 15, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Margolis and Morley previously worked together on the 2001 movie, ‘Black Days’. ‘Death of Me’ is Tish’s first professional screenplay, and he will also be serving as a key producer on the project.
Trailer
The trailer for ‘Death of Me’ that dropped last month adds little to the plot already given for the film. But it helps realize that the story looks much creepier than it reads. The trailer sees the couple witness the impossible murder on tape, even as both try to reconcile with the idea that something beyond reason is happening around them.
It is difficult to tell from the trailer if the supposed supernatural elements in the film are real or just a kind of hallucination. This promises to be a good psychological horror film that will surely have people on the edge of their seats.
