After a kickass Season 5, the long wait has begun for 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' to return with Season 6. The new season is expected to kick the ridiculousness up a notch with the Legends going up against aliens who have kidnapped Sara Lance (Caity Lotz). Here’s everything you need to know about the project:

Release date

'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' Season 6 is expected to return Midseason 2021 though an actual release date is yet to be announced.

Plot

After defeating the Fates in Season 5, 'Legends of Tomorrow' is taking a break from magic to get back to its sci-fi roots. Season 6 will feature aliens as the main villains, as teased in the Season 5 finale where Sara was beamed away to space. We are guessing a large part of the season will deal with the team trying to get Sara back before moving on to them attempting to stop an invasion or worse. Here's the official synopsis for the season: "Having spent last season trying to track down the Loom of Fate in order to bring back their slain comrades, the Legends must now save history from a foe like none they’ve encountered in the past or future. Co-captains of the time-ship Waverider Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) and Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan) have dealt with monsters, time anomalies, and most recently, villains from Hell, but this season they will face something even more challenging and bizarre... space aliens!"

"After one of their own is abducted by a ruthless alien, this new mission becomes personal. It will take more than the combined powers of a dark magician, John Constantine (Matt Ryan); a semi-reformed arsonist, Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell); historian who transforms into steel, Nate Heywood (Nick Zano); and a brother-sister wind-totem-wielding duo, Zara Tarazi (Tala Ashe) and Behrad Tarazi (Shayan Sobhian) to save the world for a sixth time. They must recruit a new Legend, a woman who was abducted by aliens when she was a child and supposedly imbued with powers that will help the team defeat their intergalactic foes. Either that or she’s just crazy."

Cast

Caity Lotz, Matt Ryan, Olivia Swann, Dominic Purcell and Nick Zano (The CW)

Maisie Richardson-Sellers has left the show's cast after the Season 5 finale and both Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford exited the show early on in the last season. However, all the other main cast members are expected to return in Season 6 though Olivia Swann's Astra Logue will probably be present in a more recurring role after completing her character arc in Season 5. Mina Sundwall is also expected to return as Lita. The cast of 'Legends of Tomorrow' features Caity Lotz, Jes Macallan, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano, Tala Ashe, Shayan Sobhian, Matt Ryan, Adam Tsekhman and Amy Pemberton as the voice of Gideon.

Creators

'Legends of Tomorrow' was developed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Phil Klemmer. Sarah Schechter, Keto Shimizu and Chris Fedak are also executive producers with Klemmer and Fedak serving as co-showrunners.
