'Dancing with the Stars' Semi-finals: Was Johnny Weir’s elimination ‘unfair’? Angry fans say Nelly deserved to go

Even though Johhny redeemed himself in the second performance for the night by dancing to Jazz, he couldn’t garner enough votes from fans to make to the finals

In a week from now, we’ll know which of the celebrity contestants on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 29 will take home the mirror ball trophy. In the week leading up to it, all the six couples performed two sets of dances to escape the double eliminations. However, Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir failed to make a mark in the opinion of the judges and fans and was eliminated in the semi-finals. 

Even though Johhny redeemed himself in the second performance for the night by dancing to Jazz, he couldn’t garner enough votes from fans to make to the finals. And, he received one of the lowest scores in the Judges’ Redemption Round as his performance wasn’t up to the mark due to a few missteps and mistakes that couldn’t go unnoticed. Johnny’s fans, however, did rally for him to be saved. And, even after the elimination, the majority of them have shared on Twitter that he didn’t deserve to go home. While a few backed him by praising his efforts in the second attempt, the rest called out the overall decision of saving Nelly, despite a score lower than Johnny’s. 

Fans of the show were disappointed and irked at the same time as they had to let Johnny go, who was considered to be one of the toughest to beat on this season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’. Soon, social media users took to Twitter to share reasons and opinions about Johhny’s elimination.

One Twitter user pointed, "Y’all are so pressed about Nelly like damn. I’m happy af for him. However, Kaitlyn’s dry ass should have left & Johnny should have stayed  #DWTS" Another added, "Gotta say, this is absolutely BS. Nelly, god love him, but he should not have made it to the finals. Johnny and Britt got robbed. #DWTS" Meanwhile one tweeted, "Really really mad they picked Nelly over Skai and Johnny. They are both beautiful dancers and Nelly is stiff as a stick. The man cannot dance to save his life. So unfair." One said, "Do not agree with Nelly making it to the final!!! @JohnnyGWeir deserved to go and have a chance to win! So disappointed for Johnny and Brit! #DWTS"
