The October 12 episode of ‘Dancing With the Stars’ brought back the '80s memories, as the celebrity contestants and their pro-dancer partners took to the stage to deliver some mind-blowing performances to the hits from the pop era. Figure skater Johnny Weir and his dancing partner Britt were the first to dance to contemporary in Season 29. Even though Johnny was more than ecstatic about his performance, he did have a hard time getting his moves right during the rehearsals. Johnny and Britt performed to ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ by Bonnie Taylor.

During the rehearsal routine when Britt realized Johnny was finding it a tad bit difficult to come out of his comfort zone, she decided to take him to an ice staking rink to ease him up. However, when Johnny and Britt finally took to the stage, they absolutely blew everybody’s mind with their powerful contemporary performance. While Bruno Tonioli said Johnny gave the dance a meaning, with moves and emotions while asking him to stretch more, Carrie Ann Inaba said she loved his performance and asked him to take a bow. Meanwhile, Derek Hough called their performance “perfect”.

Johnny also noted that performing to contemporary made him feel like he was in his happy place. He ends up getting the highest score of Season, 29. While Carrie and Derek gave him 10 each, Bruno gave him a 9.

Fans were also thrilled to watch Johnny’s performance and soon surfaced on Twitter to congratulate their favorite dancer on getting the highest score while praising him for him fabulous performance with pro-dancer partner Britt. One impressed fan tweeted, "Mikko would have found great delight in watching Total Eclipse of the Heart performed by Johnny Weir and Britt. And he would have absolutely crushed an air guitar solo singing the lyrics added by The Dan Band. #DWTS". Another added, "That contemporary choreo was MEANT for Johnny Weir! Bravo to him for crushing it, and to Britt for creating it! #DWTS". One wrote, "Johnny Weir on DWTS. I love that man so much! I had to make sure I caught his contemporary dance. He nailed it of course. #DWTS". And one said, "Johnny Weir deserves to win just based off of that performance #DWTS"
