Dan Rather slams Trump over his Covid-19 'photo ops', Internet says POTUS 'deserves zero sympathy'
Dan Rather has taken a dig at President Donald Trump after he made a brief appearance in his SUV outside Walter Reed Medical Center. The veteran journalist also criticized the POTUS for his “photo ops”. Taking to Twitter, Rather said, “Covid motorcades, signing blank papers and tear gas walks to a church: the tragedy of Donald Trump’s photo ops.”
The tweet was reportedly an apparent hint at numerous occasions involving Trump, including this year’s peaceful protests at Washington’s Lafayette Square when police used tear gas at the crowd to disperse them so that the Republican leader and his allies could come in front of St. John’s Episcopal Church for a photo op. The second post by Rather attacked a number of pictures released by the White House of Trump at a conference table in the hospital. The president has been admitted to Walter Reed since Friday, October 2, after testing positive for the Covid-19. “Nothing says "I work hard" to America more than signing blank sheets of paper. But the real question is whether it was the same "magical Sharpie" the president uses for his hurricane forecasting,” the tweet by the 88-year-old read. “Magical Sharpie" was a reference to a sharpie, which Trump used to wrongly include Alabama in the number of states in danger from Hurricane Dorian in 2019.

Soon after Rather’s tweets went online, a number of people joined him in lambasting the president. “Don't forget throwing toilet paper in Puerto Rico and his trip to Korea that overthrew decades of US policy just so he could have a photo op with Kim,” tweeted a user. A second user said: “The “HOAX” is that he doesn’t probably doesn’t have Covid and is faking it to detract from all the other big news stories like his tax returns and his horrible wife talking about Christmas. Then he can be discharged and act like he’s Superman that beat Covid.”

“I believed he was sick enough to be hospitalized. I don’t now. This is as low as a president has ever gone. Putting so many at risk for a damn photo op. Mr Biden, put the negative ads back up. He deserves zero sympathy. Done!” said the third user. “Trump signing blank pieces of paper looks like an obvious mistake in their staging fake “work” for the camera, but another interpretation is that Trump’s brain is now so addled that they are giving him blank pieces of paper to sign so he can “play President” as make-believe time,” added a person on Twitter.

Meanwhile, reports have stated that several Secret Service agents have anonymously condemned Trump’s Sunday evening, October 4, an outing in his SUV, despite White House spokesman Judd Deere saying, “appropriate precautions were taken in the execution of this movement to protect the president and all those supporting it.” But one agent said: “He’s not even pretending to care now.” While another agent told CNN: "That should never have happened. I mean, I wouldn't want to be around them. The frustration with how we're treated when it comes to decisions on this illness goes back before this though. We're not disposable."
