CW's 'Legacies' first look photos make the wait for the season premiere all the more harder
'Legacies', 'The Originals' spin-off follows Hope and other supernatural teens post the events of 'The Originals' finale. Remember there is a 2 year-time jump.
After the astounding success of 'The Vampire Diaries' and 'The Originals', CW is back with another spin-off series based on the evergreen vampire saga. Called 'Legacies', the show follows the next generation of teen supernatural beings as they go through their own sets of trials and tribulations. After the trailer debut at Comic-Con in San Diego, CW has just released the first look photos of the show and they certainly want to milk the mysterious element to the full.
First look photos show that Landon (Aria Shahghasemi), the cute boy from the dance in 'The Originals' finale will be making a comeback along with Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis) and Hope Mikaelson (Daniele Rose Russell). The premiere photos show that the Hope and Landon do share some sort of a connection as she sits by his cell taking care of him. It is unclear why he's been thrown behind bars but we know that Hope's choices in men haven't always been stellar. What magical entity do we have behind those bars? We'll just have to wait for the drama to unfold.
Meanwhile, we also have a couple alert in the form of Penelope (Lulu Antariksa) and MG (Quincy Fouse). They are seen holding each other's hands and gazing lovingly into each other's eyes.
We don't know much about these two but it looks like their love will be a big part of the story arc. Showrunner Julie Plec had said that the series will be a much age-appropriate show in terms of love interests. "We made the decision to not have the 100-year-old dude chasing a 17-year-old girl. The vampires of our school will be the appropriate age," she said speaking at the San Diego Comic Con. The plot follows Hope and the one-of-a-kind teens post the events of 'The Originals' finale. It starts two years later, as she adjusts to life at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.
Russell had also added that her character would be seen in a much different light than in 'The Originals'. "Russell points out that her character will have a chance at a normal life in 'Legacies' unlike her crazy story arc in 'The Originals'. "On the last season of 'The Originals', Hope screamed and cried a lot. It’s been really nice to see Hope have a little bit of normalcy. It’s been nice to infuse my own teenage experience in this role. In those two years, a lot has happened…she’s changed a lot, she’s matured a lot. She’s battling all these different things inside of her, [including being] one of her kind."
Hope and Alaric continue to be close, he is even seen teaching her how to fight. He is probably like a father to Hope - a hole that Niklaus' absence would have left in Hope's life. Alaric's two daughters also make a comeback this season after their spell stint in 'The Originals' and from the first glance, it looks like there may be some jealousy brewing between the twins and Hope. The show stars Kaylee Bryant as Josie Saltzman and Jenny Boyd as Lizzie Saltzman.
The exact number of episodes have not been announced yet but for now, get ready for the series premiere on October 25 on The CW.
