'Crash Landing on You' week 2: Se-ri, Jeong-hyeok share a kiss but his real fiancee arrives
Netflix's latest offering in K-Drama, 'Crash Landing on You' is in its second week, and the plot has just gotten thicker. Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-Jin) and Ri Jeong-hyeok's (Hyun-Bin) lives are intertwined in a complex manner, and for them to unwind the tangle that they have created with one lie after another, we definitely have an interesting few weeks ahead of us.
In episodes 3 and 4 that were aired, the show picks up right as Jeong-hyeok claims that Se-ri is his fiancee. She goes on to explain that she has been employed in Division 11, and as part of the covert operation group, she was for the most part in South Korea. Following this, the Bordertown people try to learn more about the new member of their neighborhood, however, Se-ri is not forthcoming with information about herself.
In the meanwhile, Jeong-hyeok's senior official Cho Cheol-gang (Oh Man-Seok) is suspicious of Se-ri and wants to find a way to bring Jeong-hyeok down. Especially now that he has found out the truth about Jeong-hyeok's background. It seems that Jeong-hyeok's brother used to work with Cheol-gang, but met an unfortunate end after he was run over by trucks. Jeong-hyeok doesn't believe that this was just another accident. In an attempt to find the truth about his brother's death, he joins the army and gets posted at the same location as his brother. He also pulled strings as the son of one of the highly placed officials in North Korea.
To stop Jeong-hyeok from unearthing more about his nefarious plans which also include helping criminals of other countries hide in North Korea, Cheol-gang has to do something. So he decides to spy on Jeong-hyeok, and in the process, he finds that there is something suspicious about Jeong-hyeok's fiancee. He uses his connections and finds out that there was no one matching Se-ri's description that had been a part of the Division 11 team recently.
Amid all of this, Jeong-hyeok's real fiancee Seo-dan (Seo Ji-hye) has also arrived. Se-ri, who has no idea about Jeong-hyeok's fiancee is beginning to fall for him. Despite being a woman from South Korea who is now trapped in North Korea, and understanding the repercussions of falling for someone from the other side of the border, both Se-ri and Jeong-hyeok seem to be attracted towards each other.
Jeong-hyeok tries hard to get Se-ri to Seoul by smuggling her out through a ship. This, however, doesn't work as the boat that he uses to get to the ship is called out by the navy officials. In an attempt to escape from them without alerting them about who Se-ri really is, Jeong-hyeok ends up planting a kiss on her, just in time for the officials to witness. They act as if they are newly engaged to be married and are trying to get some time alone. They do get off easily, considering their punishment if the truth had come to light. Instead, Se-ri is forced to stay longer in North Korea.
At the end of the second week, we learn that Jeong-hyeok had met Se-ri before when he was studying in Switzerland. At that time, Se-ri had tried to jump off a bridge to commit suicide and he prevented her by diverting her attention.
We also see how Jeong-hyeok's fiancee, who has known him for a long time arrives at the Bordertown to meet Jeong-hyeok.
