Jared Leto, who recently came back after spending almost two weeks in a desert, is shocked to find out about the coronavirus outbreak across the globe. The 48-year-old actor was on a trip, wherein he was involved in silent meditation in the desert with no phone and no communication with the outside world.

Revealing his shock to his fans and followers, Leto tweeted on March 17: “Wow. 12 days ago I began a silent meditation in the desert. We were totally isolated. No phone, no communication etc. We had no idea what was happening outside the facility. Walked out yesterday into a very different world. One that’s been changed forever. Mind-blowing – to say the least.”

He also mentioned that he has been “getting messages from friends and family all around the globe”, who are asking him to check the news and stay updated on “what’s going on” with the pandemic.

“Hope you and yours are ok. Sending positive energy to all. Stay inside. Stay safe,” the ‘Fight Club’ actor said on Twitter.

Leto also took to Instagram to connect to his followers as he shared the same message that he posted on Twitter. To make the situation light, one Instagram user wrote in the comments section: “Just imagine you leave the world for 12 days to come back and not have toilet paper”, while another one worrying about the situation said, “You were better off staying in the desert. This is madness.”

Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, was first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019. However, seeing the devastation it has caused across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared it a pandemic on March 11.

Since December, the pandemic has affected millions of people worldwide with China being the worst hit by the disease. The Asian country has reported more than three thousand deaths since its initial outbreak while Italy stands at second on the chart with more than two thousand reported deaths.

US President Donald Trump has also declared a national emergency. He has announced a 30-day travel ban to and from many countries in Europe.
