Colin Kaepernick is ready to get back in the game as the NFL player after a recent tryout announced that he is ready to play for any team. “I’ve been ready for three years. I’ve been denied for three years,” he said, as reported by The Guardian. Kaepernick made headlines by kneeling as a sign of protest against racial injustice at NFL games while the national anthem played.

Kaepernick stated that many of the teams started distancing themselves from him to avoid associating with the protest that Kaepernick was part of.

“So we are waiting for the 32 owners, 32 teams and (league commissioner) Roger Goodell to stop running,” he said. “Stop running from the truth, stop running from the people."

He further added, “We are ready to play. We are ready to go anywhere.”

The NFL had arranged the tryouts at Atlanta Falcons training facility but at the last minute, the location was shifted to a high school stadium. Commenting on this change Kaepernick stated that it was done to ensure that the media could be present.

Kaepernick's team decided to move the location for the tryouts after they accused the league of not acting rightfully when it came to organizing the tryouts. “From the outset, Mr. Kaepernick requested a legitimate process and from the outset, the NFL league office has not provided one,” they said in a statement.

The statement continued, "Most recently, the NFL has demanded that as a precondition to the workout, Mr. Kaepernick sign an unusual liability waiver that addresses employment-related issues and rejected the standard liability waiver from physical injury proposed by Mr. Kaepernick’s representatives.”

The statement further noted that Kaepernick had requested the media to be present during the tryouts but his request was denied by the NFL.

The NFL also broke their silence on the incident and stated that they were informed about the change in the venue by Kaepernick 30 minutes before the tryouts were supposed to start. “We are disappointed that Colin did not appear for his workout,” the league said in a statement adding that numerous attempts were made to work with Kaepernick's representatives in an understanding fashion.

“Colin’s decision has no effect on his status in the league. He remains an unrestricted free agent eligible to sign with any club,” the statement concluded. Protesters and supporters were also present outside the venue to meet Kaepernick.
