CNN's Jim Acosta took a dig at Donald Trump and called him “a sore loser”. The journalist’s taunt at the president came after he ignored questions from reporters after his “fraud” voting rant. The president has claimed to be “cheated” out of an election victory and went on a 17-minute rant. But when media personnel tried to ask questions from him, he avoided them including Acosta who asked POTUS, “Are you being a sore loser?”

On Thursday evening, November 5, Trump held a press briefing in the press room of the White House, where all the time, he insisted that the election had been “rigged” against him. He also cast doubts over the mail-in ballots. According to The Sun, Trump and his rival party candidate Joe Biden, both are competing hard against each other in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Georgia and Nevada. Though the Republican leader reportedly lagged behind Biden, he claimed there was “no blue wave”, before continuing: “We won by historic numbers. And the pollsters got it knowingly wrong, they got it knowingly wrong. We had polls that were so ridiculous and everybody knew it at the time. There was no blue wave that they predicted.” He added, “If you count the legal votes, I easily won. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us.”

Trump’s team has also filed lawsuits in Michigan, Georgia, and Pennsylvania to stop the counting of votes, alleging that the Republicans were not allowed to observe the process to make sure nothing wrong happened. The 74-year-old pledged that he won’t let unfounded “corruption to steal such an important election.” “They did the mail in ballots where there’s tremendous corruption and fraud going on. I told everybody that these things would happen,” he stated.

The former vice president also held a press conference on Thursday, but unlike Trump’s address, he urged the people of America to be patient and calm while the counting is done. “Democracy is sometimes messy. It sometimes requires a little patience as well. So I ask everyone to stay calm, all people to stay calm. The process is working. The count is being completed and we’ll know very soon,” Biden spoke from the stage of Wilmington’s Queen Theater.

Witnessing the chaos in the US’ election, New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern took a subtle dig at Trump’s America and said her nation feels like a "calm oasis in a chaotic and difficult world”. “I'm speaking with you at a time when New Zealand feels like a calm oasis in a chaotic and difficult world. I watched the results of the US election roll in, and I couldn't help but reflect on our own elections in recent years. Increasingly I've come to believe that we have to find ways that strong views can be held, and expressed, but without the accompanying partisanship that stops us from working to build consensus where it really matters,” the 40-year-old told reporters on Thursday.
