Clint Eastwood, who has been a longtime Republican, is now reportedly pulling support from US President Donald Trump in the 2020 election. Not just that. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he mentioned who he would be supporting instead. The actor said, "The best thing we could do is just get Mike Bloomberg in there."

Eastwood has, in the past, expressed his displeasure with President Trump. In a 2016 interview, Eastwood said that there’s "much funny business on both sides of the aisle".

"That's a tough one, isn't it? I'd have to go for Trump... you know, 'cause she's declared that she's gonna follow in Obama's footsteps. There's been just too much funny business on both sides of the aisle. She's made a lot of dough out of being a politician," he told Esquire magazine then.

Eastwood, however, also said he approved of "certain things that Trump’s done" but wanted the president to act "in a more genteel way, without tweeting and calling people names".
"I would personally like for him to not bring himself to that level," he said, adding that national politics had "gotten so ornery".

Eastwood told the WSJ that he was a registered Libertarian and had backed Democrats as well. "I was a Republican, but people never thought about their parties except at the national level," he said. "I drank a lot of tea and chatted with people. I told people, 'I’ll fix this, and I’ll fix that'."

Eastwood also spoke about his 2009 film ‘Gran Torino'. It’s a film about a Korean war veteran who learns to get along with his immigrant neighbors. He commented that the film now "has a certain relevance in Mr Trump's America".

"It’s about a guy who's a racist, a hard-a**. He didn’t like minorities much, of any kind. But he learns to appreciate people that he really hated," he said. Eastwood also spoke about the #MeToo movement, saying, "The #MeToo generation has its points."
