QUEENS, NEW YORK: The grieving family of a 26-year-old woman has reportedly announced that they will give $35,000 to the person who will help them in catching their daughter’s alleged killer. Claire McKenna, who was Irish but was living in New York, was reportedly killed in October. Her body was reportedly discovered on October 12 by a passerby at 94th Avenue and 214th Street in Queens Village, as per NY Post.
According to The Irish Mirror, an unidentified man attacked McKenna on October 11 quite close to her home. Around 3.11 am, McKenna sent a message to her family, “requesting help" and "that her phone battery was dying,” a statement released by her relatives said.
The statement also noted, “On October 12, at approximately 4.30 am, a man, fully covered with a mask and dark clothes, was captured on videotape pushing Claire’s body in a dolly and was caught dumping her body in a bush located at 94th Avenue and 214th Street, Queens, New York,” as it added, “The family of Claire McKenna, of Astoria New York, is offering a reward of $35,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction concerning the death of Claire McKenna.”
As per Independent.ie, McKenna’s uncle said, “She had spoken to my brother on the Monday morning, October 10th and everything was fine. We are all devastated. The pain and sorrow my sister-in-law and brother are in is unbearable. We live in a society that becomes numb to crime due to normalcy. There is nothing normal about this; we will never stop until justice is served.”
New York Police are reportedly working on the case. They said that McKenna’s death was “suspicious” but were also checking the homicide angle. The cause of death was not known yet and authorities were waiting for autopsy and toxicology reports.
