Erica Camarano is one of the latest entrants in 'City on a Hill' Season 3. The hit Showtime crime drama series introduced three new actors in the season premiere and the 'Law & Order: SVU' star, best known for her role as Rachel Ortiz, makes her debut in Kevin Bacon-starrer. Joanne Kelly, Corbin Bernsen, and Ernie Hudson are the other new faces in the third installment and were all seen making their debut in Episode 1 titled 'Gods and Monsters'.

Camarano is introduced as an ADA Blair Chavez from Chicago to assist Decourcy Ward (Aldis Hodge) who has been in professional purgatory since Season 2. While he's bent on getting out of the rut his boss Guy Dan puts him in one, he gets a shot to make a name for himself and earn a handsome promotion in the new season. His arc starts with Dan telling him that he's running for Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Should he win, he gets to leave and appoint his successor.

If Ward were to succeed and do better at his role, he would have another shot in the '94 term. However, the catch comes in the form of Chavez, who Dan introduces as one of the potential candidates to succeed him. "What I need is excellence and conviction from the both of you to settle the voting public," he explains.

"Mr Ward, Blair Chavez. Meeting you is an honor," she introduces herself. "Working with you will be a privilege." She also looks at Dan and adds, "I don't even know why I am in consideration for the job," implying that she deserved the role over Ward. "You did an excellent job in Chicago putting the State Senator away for misuse of campaign funds. You built a big, splashy, successful case, and that is what I expect from the two of you," says Dan in response. While Chavez and Ward exchange pleasantries with wry smiles soon after, it's clear that the Chicago woman is gunning for Dan's post.

There are two ways of looking at Chavez's character. Either she's a level-headed team player and as like-minded as Ward, or she's in this to be the lone gun-slinger and work alone. There's also that question of crossing lines, something the Brooklyn man experienced all too well with Jackie Rohr (Bacon) and it remains to be seen how his relationship with Chavez, and at the same time, how her arc pans out.

'City on a Hill' Season 3 airs Sundays at 10 pm ET on Showtime.
