'Citadel' is an upcoming spy-thriller on Amazon Prime Video

LOS ANGELES, CALIFRONIA: 'Citadel' is a  spy action thriller TV series developed by David Weil for Amazon Prime Video, with the Russo brothers serving as executive producers. Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas play the roles of Citadel agents Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh. The series will reportedly have spino-ffs produced in various countries and languages. These localized spinoffs are designed to enrich the overall entertainment experience for viewers and provide opportunities to explore the intricacies of the imagined world in greater depth.

The mini-series follows the story of an independent intelligence agency that was destroyed by a powerful syndicate known as Manticore, along with a traitorous agent, eight years prior to the start of the series. Two former agents, including Mason Kane (played by Richard Madden), had their memories wiped and were living under new identities until they were called upon to stop Manticore from gaining control of the world. In order to succeed, they must also reactivate another former Citadel operative, Nadia Sinh (played by Priyanka Chopra). The series promises to offer a unique blend of action, emotions and intrigue.

Where was Prime Video's 'Citadel' filmed?

The majority of filming for 'Citadel' took place in the UK, beginning in early 2022 and concluding in June of the same year. Citadel's first season is set to premiere on April 28 and it was filmed across two European countries, the UK and Slovenia.

Let's look at the various locations used during the filming of the series.

Harlaxton Manor, England

Harlaxton Manor, a country house built in 1831 and surrounded by 300 acres of parkland and gardens, has been used as a filming location for the series. The interior of the house serves as a set for the show.

Birmingham, England

Birmingham, located in England's West Midlands region, boasts a network of canals and is home to several British and international film productions, as well as numerous filming studios. The cast and crew of Citadel utilized the place for the outdoor filming of certain scenes in the series.

Kanin Mountains, Bovec

The Julian Alps, a mountain range located on the border between Slovenia and Italy, was used as a location for several scenes in the series. Specifically, the Canin Mountains, which are a part of the western Julian Alps, were utilized for filming. The series was also filmed in another mountain range in Slovenia.

Stol Mountain, Kobarid

The Stol Mountain forms the Slovenia-Austria border and is the tallest peak of the Karawanks mountain range.

'Citadel' premieres on April 28 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
