'Christmas in Toyland' on Hallmark: Vanessa Lengies made career breakthrough with 'Waiting'

Hallmark is set to release an impressive lineup of films under the theme "Christmas in July". This year there will be three all-new original holiday movies debuting in July. 'Christmas in Toyland' previously titled 'Christmas in Trinket Town' is part of the lineup. Written by Courtney McAllister and Kate Pragnell, the movie is scheduled to premiere on July 23, 2022 on Hallmark Channel.

Directed by Bill Corcoran, the Hallmark movie revolves around a data analyst (Lengies) and a toy store manager (Hutch), who must work together to keep the in-store experience alive to save hundreds of jobs shortly before Christmas. The synopsis of the movie states, "As Christmas looms, and faced with this crisis of stores being closed, Charlie and Grant's individual soul-searching leads them both back to the source of their love for the simple joy of the toy business... while also sparking a new romance." What was Vanessa Lengies debut film/series?

Vanessa began her acting career with roles in several Canadian TV shows, such as 'Popular Mechanics', 'Are You Afraid of the Dark', and 'Radio Active' in 2000. She also worked as a voice actor and lent her voice to a character in the animated show 'Arthur', before she landed a lead role in the Showtime movie 'Ratz' in 2002. In the same year, she was selected for the notable role of Roxanne in the NBC TV show 'American Dreams'. In 2005, she co-starred with Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear in the comedy 'The Perfect Man'.

Vanessa made her career breakthrough with the role of Natasha in the 2005 TV film 'Waiting…', and she even reprised her role in its 2009 sequel 'Still Waiting…'. In 2006, she co-starred with Jeff Bridges and Missy Peregrym as a gymnast in the film 'Stick It'. Lengies was seen as Sophia in the Lifetime original drama series 'Monarch Cove'. She also co-starred in the ABC online comedy 'Squeegees'. She appeared in a recurring role as Nurse Kelly Epson on the TNT medical drama 'Hawthorne' from 2009 through 2011. Lengies was cast in the recurring role of Sugar Motta for the third season of acclaimed show 'Glee'. Vanessa has been nominated for several awards, such as Screen Actors Guild, Emmy, and Teen Choice Awards, for her works in 'Glee', and 'American Dreams'.
