Mother who strangled 7-year-old son and drowned him in bathtub pleads insanity

A court heard a mentally disabled mother in Essex, U.K., "strangled her seven-year-old son before drowning him in the bath". 37-year-old Christina Acres from Rochford, made her initial appearance at the Basildon Crown Court on January 15 as the prosecution opened up their case on the first day of trial. The mother confessed to killing her son George but also pleaded not guilty to his murder by citing insanity, reported Essex Live. The decision now rests with the jury.
