'Children of Blood and Bone': Release date, plot, cast and everything you need to know about the Disney adaptation
Putting a stamp of approval on a new Lucasfilm project, Disney is all set to adapt a movie about magical creatures and vindictive spirits. Titled 'Children of Blood and Bone', the film is based on a 2018 fantasy novel by Nigerian-American novelist Tomi Adeyemi. What's more, 'This Is Us' writer Kay Oyegun seems to have struck a deal to write the script adaptation of the epic fantasy along with director Rick Famuyiwa, according to Deadline.
The project, originally a Fox 2000 property, seems to have caught Lucasfilm's chief Kathy Kennedy's attention. This is the first feature to be produced by the banner that is not an installment of 'Star Wars' or 'Indiana Jones'.

Plot
The plot revolves around a mystical west African-inspired world that brings themes of oppression, racism, and slavery to the fore. In the novel, the protagonist Zélie Adebola, a young and hot-headed girl, inherits a legacy of supernatural chaos after her mother is killed and attempts to restore magic to the kingdom of Orïsha. It is also a coming-of-age story as the characters discover their abilities to help shape the world through their actions.

Rick Famuyiwa
Rick Famuyiwa, formerly expected to direct DC's 'Flash' film, is reportedly set to direct the film. The filmmaker is known for his work on 'The Wood' (1999), 'Brown Sugar' (2002), 'Talk to Me' (2007) and 'Dope' (2015).
Kay Oyegun
Known for her work on 'This is Us' and 'Queen Sugar', the screenwriter is all set to pen the script for 'Children of Blood and Bones.' Along with her, scriptwriter David Magee is also said to work on the movie.
Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy has her eyes on the project as the producer of the movie.
