Chicago's favorite rivalry is back as Chicago Cubs are all set to take on Chicago White Sox on in Friday’s MLB series opener. The three games of the series will take place from August 21 to August 23. 

Chicago Cubs Preview

Cubs are coming off a marathon series with the Cardinals, which included two doubleheaders in an intensely competitive three-game meeting. Now for the series starting on Friday, all their hopes lie on the 36-year-old veteran Jon Lester, who is all set for the opportunity to bounce back from an ugly defeat against the Milwaukee Brewers. In his game with the Brewers, his pitches were smacked around for nine hits and five earned runs in six innings, which resulted in a 6-5 team loss at home. the Cubs haven’t played nearly as well offensively at Wrigley Field than they have on the road. They rank in the bottom half of the league in hits (6.60) and run-scoring average.

Chicago White Sox Preview

After losing back-to-back games to the St. Louis Cardinals, the White Sox have surged back with five straight wins, including a four-game series sweep over the Detroit Tigers. Sox are now all set to knock off Cubs. They rank ninth in ISO (.194) and seventh in average home runs per game (1.64).  Dallas Keuchel has shown an amazing performance in the game. Keuchel is a former two-time MLB All-Star, and he comes with great championship experience, including pitching in the 2017 World Series for the Houston Astros. He earned a win over the Cubs after being traded to the Atlanta Braves in 2019. In a 5.2-inning effort, he has dinged eight hits and three earned runs, including two homers.

Venue

The match will take place in Chicago at Wrigley Field. It is the home of the Chicago Cubs and was first opened in 1914 as Weeghman Park. On April 20, 1916, the cubs played their first home there game and defeated the Cincinnati Reds with a score of 7–6 in 11 innings. It was named Cubs Park from 1920 to 1926, before being renamed Wrigley Field in 1927.

Who will win?

The White Sox have built up the sort of win streak and have been a better road team in the league with an 8-3 record. Whereas, Cubs batting lineup ranks in the bottom half of the league in OPS. So we will put our bets on Sox.
