Canadian Music Hall of Fame: All the women inductees including Jann Arden, Alanis Morissette and Joni Mitchell
With the Juno Awards set to take place on March 15, Jann Arden will become the 11th woman inductee into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, marking her as the sixth woman to receive the honor in the last decade.
The upcoming award showcases that the Canadian Hall has a focus on achieving fairer gender parity in their awards. Likewise, numerous American cultural institutions are seeking to achieve the same goal.
Singer-songwriter and actress Jann Arden is a pop artiste who is most famously known for her signature ballads, such as her 1996 hit 'Insensitive'. She follows musical heavyweights Joni Mitchell, Anne Murray and Alanis Morissette, according to Billboard.
A number of Canadian women still await their induction including Alessia Cara (who is set to host this year's show), Céline Dion, Diana Krall, Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne, Carly Rae Jepsen, Tegan and Sara, Alannah Myles, Feist and Serena Ryder. We can only hope to see them listed in the coming years.
