CHICO, CALIFORNIA: A white woman was branded 'Karen' and 'Panera Patty' after she refused to wear a mask inside an outlet of Panera Bread on Monday, July 20, claiming that if pants can't stop people from smelling farts then masks can't prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The incident took place at a Panera Bread outlet in Chico, California, and was filmed by patron William See as she stood in line. Since she was not wearing a mask, which everyone was required by law to wear since a mandate went out on July 15, the staffers at the restaurant provided her with a mask. However, even then, the woman refused to put the face-covering on, instead choosing to loop it around her wrist.

You can see the video here.

She then whipped out her phone and began recording the employees at the facility. ''So you’re not going to serve me because I’m not wearing a mask?'' she said. See, who was filming her standing behind her said, "No, they’re not going to serve you because you’re not wearing a mask, that’s exactly right. Just put on a mask! You give such an aura. You selfish piece of sh** get out of here. You’re so f***ing selfish."

The indignant woman turned to See and snappingly said, "Stop it, stop it!'' See replied with, "No because you're putting us all at risk." In response, the woman gave a mischievous smile to See and his friend before blowing air at them. As she laughed and walked away. See told her: ''Oh come on, come on you child, grow the f*** up lady."

Then she tried to explain her point of view about why she was against masks, despite the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization haling face coverings as one of the most effective measures to prevent COVID-19.

"You think that mask is going to protect you? You fart out your a** you can smell it out of your a**. You think that mask is going to protect you?" she asked before walking off. See called after her, saying, "Just grow up, grow up and get out. Thank you!' the man filming her says."

The video of the exchange went viral on social media, with multiple people commenting against the woman's behavior. "So she's saying to basically take of (sic) your pants cause it doesn't stop farts?" one Twitter user wrote, while another said, "Maybe Panera Patty's employer will see this deplorable behavior and take the appropriate action. Disgusting she is so irresponsible and reckless toward the health of others #WearAMask."

Standing by their mask policy, Panera Bread issued a statement saying "the health and safety of our employees and guests is our top priority." "We are committed to following the COVID guidance of the state of California who mandate wearing of masks by team members and guests. We offer masks to guests who do not have them and make an effort to offer other accommodations whenever possible," a spokesperson said to Newsweek.

Even President Donald Trump, who famously refused to don a mask in public, saying it made him look "weak," chose to wear a mask on Monday changing his tune to its "patriotic" to wear them. "We are United in our effort to defeat the Invisible China Virus, and many people say that it is Patriotic to wear a face mask when you can't socially distance," Trump tweeted. "There is nobody more Patriotic than me, your favorite President!"
