California man named 'Sexy Vegan' arrested for sexually assaulting his pet dog in video he uploaded online
NEWHALL, CALIFORNIA: A California man whose legal name is Sexy Vegan has been arrested and charged after he allegedly uploaded a video on social media where he can be seen sexually assaulting his dog.
The 37-year-old Hansel Marion DeBartolo, aka Sexy Vegan, was arrested this past Thursday, September 26, after detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station came across the obscene video where he can be seen engaging in inappropriate conduct with his pit bull, according to KHTS.
The video was reportedly posted on September 5. After an investigation, detectives served a search and arrest warrant for his home on DeWolfe Road, Newhall.
After the search, the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control removed two dogs from the home. Sheriff's officials said Vegan was on probation for an unrelated charge outside of the Santa Clara area at the time of his arrest.
While being arrested, he allegedly told deputies that his occupation was "2020 presidential candidate", but there was no record of a filing in his name with the Federal Election Committee.
Vegan first made headlines in October 2017 when he appeared in an episode of the 'Dr. Phil Show' that was titled, 'My Brother Changed His Name to 'Sexy Vegan', Wears Speedos in Public and is Spending My Mom's $11 Million Inheritance'.
In the episode, his family had complained about how he regularly wore skimpy outfits, danced at inappropriate moments, and carried around a full-length mirror at all times.
His appearance was short-lasting, as he was kicked out for using excessive profanities, with Dr. Phil telling him to not "let the door hit you in the ass" as he moonwalked off the set.
Vegan has pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor charges, one count of sexual assault on an animal, and one count of posting obscene matter.
He is currently being held in police custody on a $35,000 bond and is scheduled to make his next appearance in court on October 7. If convicted of his charges, he faces up to one year in prison.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
