PARK CITY, UTAH: Brooke Shields is one of the most extraordinary actors of this generation and has worked in several high-end ventures. She is at a point in her life where she is ready to talk about her journey and the sacrifices she made to garner such fame and popularity. However, the journey has not been easy, and is finally opening up about a certain period of her life in which she was sexually abused by a man when she was starting her professional career in the entertainment industry.

In a documentary, titled ‘Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields’, about her life that recently premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, the 57-year-old star revealed that she was “raped” by someone she knew when she graduated college and had met with dinner to talk about a movie. The documentary also revealed that the abuser took her back to his hotel and claimed that he would call her a taxi from his room. However, things got extremely bizarre when he went into the washroom and came out naked. The assault happened at that time and Shields was too young to understand what was happening and couldn’t do much.

“I didn't fight that much. I just absolutely froze. I thought that my one 'no' should have been enough. And I just thought 'stay alive and get out,’” Shields said during the documentary (via Associated Press).

The documentary also talks about the moment she told the horrifying incident to one of her friends and security head Gavin de Becker, who didn’t waste a second to call it a “rape.” But Shields was so shocked that she wasn’t willing to believe that she was sexually abused by someone she knew.

In one of the terrifying stories, Shields noted how Italian filmmaker Franco Zefirelli, who directed the actress in the 1981 movie ‘Endless Love’, got so frustrated for not giving him what he wanted during the movie’s sex scenes that he started twisting his toe in anger. She added, “Zeffirelli kept grabbing my toe and, like, twisting it so that I had a look of… I guess ecstasy? But it was more angst than anything because he was hurting me.”

The documentary follows the actor and former supermodel and talks about how she went on to become successful. It also focuses on how she gained her power after being sexualized at a very young age.

The two-part docu received a standing ovation at the festival and has opened to positive reviews.

‘Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields’, which draws its name from the 1978 movie ‘Pretty Baby’, will be premiering on Hulu, later this year.
