LONDON, ENGLAND: 'Bridgerton' Season 3 Part 2 is exciting but not in the ways viewers had anticipated. The way Part 1 ended with Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton's (Luke Newton) steamy romance, fans wished to see more of it.
While Episode 5 has an elaborate love-making scene between the new couple, their new romance hits the rock as the season progresses.
Penelope is not able to enjoy this new phase of her life as her identity as Lady Whistledown is at the brink of exposure. However, she gets a chance at escape when Cressida Cowper (Jessica Madsen) stands up and announces herself as the gossip writer in Episode 5.
Penelope Featherington has to choose between Bridgertons and her alter ego in 'Bridgerton' Season 3
Penelope has worked relentlessly for years to be the formidable Lady Whistledown. However, a moment is all it takes for Cressida to take away all the credit for Penelope's hard work.
Agitated, Penelope sits down to write her next edition exposing Cressida's lies. But she is ultimately stopped by her friend-turned-enemy-turned-well-wisher, Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie).
Eloise argues that it is a golden chance to bury her identity as a Lady Whistledown and focus on her life with Colin Bridgerton.
However, Penelope has to fight her inner desire to quit being a gossip writer. She has to choose between her ambition that kept her going all these years, and her relationship with Colin that she dreamt of, since the moment she first met him.
As much as it hurts, Penelope decides to keep her pen down, until a twist in the final moments of 'Bridgerton' Season 3 Episode 6.

Cressida Cowper arrives at Alice's ball unannounced and catches everyone by surprise. Posing as Lady Whistledown, she gets a note circulated announcing that her next edition will arrive soon.
The announcement makes Eloise anxious as she believes that she has somehow served immense power to Cressida on a platter. She fears that nobody can stop Cressida from spilling venom against her family.
At this moment, Penelope assures Eloise that she will pick up her pen again and do something good with it.
After the ball, she goes on to write a new edition, discrediting Cressida's claims.
Is this the end of Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton's romance?
At midnight, as Penelope visits her publisher to hand over her latest edition, Colin spots her.
"Are you Lady Whistledown?" he asks in shock. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, leaving fans wondering about the fate of their relationship.
We know that Colin despises Lady Whistledown for writing scandalous gossip about his family. Upon knowing that his fiancé is Lady Whistledown, he would feel betrayed.
Penelope had a chance to come clean to Colin earlier. However, the fact that she hid it all this time could hurt him even more. It would not be a surprise if Colin wants to cancel their wedding in the next episode and we wouldn't even blame him.
