The previous episode of USA Network’s ‘Briarpatch’ finally revealed to us Felicity Dill’s (Michele Weaver) murderer and one couldn’t have been more wrong about the nerd of a man, Gene Colder (Brian Geraghty), who staged an exceptional act all along.

Although it felt like the series was sidelining the suspense surrounding the twin bombing and laying more focus on the inner workings of Saint Bonifacio, which was occurring simultaneously, Episode 8 did justice to its primary plotline with a surprising twist.

While the previous episode ended with Allegra Dill confronting Colder about his sister’s killing and the latter getting punched by two women in the face, the upcoming episode, titled ‘Game Theory and Mescaline’, sees Allegra Dill (Rosario Dawson) and Jake Spivey (Jay R Ferguson) trying to evade Clyde Brattle’s (Alan Cumming) villainous strike by fleeing Texas City.

While the duo, amid their excruciating walk through the desert comprehends their decision of leaving the town, Senator finally meets with Brattle in person, as the former discusses his concern over his associate’s latest move.

Needless to say, Brattle is one wicked man who has found his comfort in violence. Now, he’s determined to hunt down Jake and his 'pig', Allegra, and perhaps, get rid of them as well?

In the official sneak peek for Episode 9, which is available to stream on USA Network, Brattle is seen asking the Senator if it would be of problem to him if Allegra never made it to Chicago.

While Allegra tells Jake they need to return to the town, it remains to be seen in the next episode if Brattle will work his plans once again and get hold of these two before they make it to the town or if Allegra and Jake could together end Brattle’s game with a political move that could impress the senator.

Meanwhile, fans of the show seem highly apprehensive about Jake coming face to face with  Brattle once again. One concerned fan wrote on Reddit, “I adore Jake, and his overwhelming fear, when faced by Brattle (as well as the fucked up intimacy that they clearly share), was really powerful -- it's almost impossible not to be invested in him right now. I'm EXTREMELY CONCERNED.”

‘Briarpatch’ airs on Mondays on USA Network.
