The iconic and stellar Hollywood star Bradley Cooper might be at the zenith of his career right now but this was not always the scene. The ‘A Star Is Born’ star was literally insulted by a director couple of years back for his Oscar Nominations and he revealed it during an interview with Amazon Music and Wondery’s ‘SmartLess’ podcast on Thursday, June 16.

The nine times Oscar Awards nominated star revealed how he is still not taken seriously within the Hollywood circuit while talking to Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes on their ‘SmartLess’ podcast. The actor who got global recognition with his performance in the hit film ‘Hangover’ also spoke about the really awkward and weird encounter with two huge stars at an Oscar award after-party that had been thrown by talent agency CAA. Cooper had been nominated for three categories which also included Best Picture nomination.

Cooper was 'dissed' by a director at Oscar’s party for his nominations

He told the hosts on the ‘SmartLess’ podcast about how a well-renowned film director ended up ridiculing him only because he had several academy award nominations around the time when he had been doing the promotional press for his directorial debut ‘A Star Is Born’.

Furthermore, Bradley shared about how at that specific Oscars party, he was talking to an actress and a filmmaker, when the director said “What world are we living in where you have seven nominations and she’s only got three?”. The actor recalled thinking to himself, “I’m like, ‘Bro, why are you such an a**hole?’ I would never f**king forget that. Go f**k yourself”.

Cooper admitted feeling ‘pissed’ during his first ‘Oscars’ nominations party

Sharing another incident from his first Oscar nomination in 2013, Cooper, who was awarded the Best Actor for the dramedy 'Silver Linings Playbook', found himself competing against icons Daniel Day-Lewis, Hugh Jackman, Joaquin Phoenix, and Denzel Washington.

He further told the podcast hosts how a female actress, whom he couldn’t recognize at first, came up to him and despised him for receiving the Oscar nomination.

Explaining that incident to the podcast hosts, the 'American Sniper' star said, “She’s like, I saw your movie. You deserve the nom. I was like, What? I’m sorry, what?. ‘The nom’. Then, like 10 or 20 minutes later, I’m not kidding. I passed her going to the bathroom and she mouths it, ‘The nom.’ I remember thinking, what the f**k is this town?, Can you imagine saying that to somebody? You’ve got to be f**ked up to do that”.

He felt 'insecure' and 'worthless' during his initial career days in industry

Besides, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy' star currently has about nine Oscar nominations. The actor also looked back at another incident that made him not feel good about his choice of profession in life.

The actor confessed that he had ‘zero self-esteem’ when he initially started his career in the industry and felt ‘worthless’ as an actor. He revealed how ‘insecure’ he was with his comedy acting ability during ‘Wedding Crashers’ and other early films in his career. His first Oscar nomination made him feel like he was ‘levitating’ and now, a decade later, we can see how his career is hitting a pinnacle.

Opening up on his upcoming film ‘Maestro’ which has been almost four and a half years in the making now, Bradley said, “There’s the movie; a movie about marriage, a movie about family. That’s it. Why is it nuclear? Because it’s this f**king music. Music is nuclear”.

He also added, “I had a secret weapon in ‘A Star is Born.’ It was Lady Gaga. The secret weapon I have in this movie is f**king Leonard Bernstein and Gustav Mahler. The music!”.
