Nima Momeni is accused of fatally stabbing Bob Lee after an altercation that turned fatal on April 4.
Initially, it was believed that Lee's death was the result of a violent random act in a city where crime rates were on the rise. His friends, however, argue that it might have been due to his luxurious lifestyle among the elite classes of Bay Area culture, where cocaine and swinger parties were common, Wall Street Journal reports.

Lee, a 43-year-old father of two, purportedly immersed himself in the city's underground party scene, known among affluent circles as 'The Lifestyle' as did Khazar Momeni, 37, the wife of a prominent plastic surgeon and sister of Momeni. Insiders reveal that Lee and Khazar were involved romantically, raising concerns that he had fallen into a perilous way of life by surrounding himself with a questionable crowd. According to a friend, Lee was passionate about his work in the tech industry, particularly his endeavors in developing a popular Venmo competitor following his tenure as a programmer at Google.
However, during his leisure time, Lee allegedly engaged in casual drug use and attended parties, where ketamine and cocaine were consumed, and he traveled to raves worldwide, according to his acquaintances. Apart from occasional drug use, Lee, who was separated from his wife, allegedly engaged in sexual encounters with multiple women at these gatherings, including Khazar. While Lee exuded a lively and vibrant persona at these events, his friend Momeni, aged 38, was often described as brooding and reserved. Witnesses claim that both men were present at a house party on April 3 when Nima confronted Lee, questioning their involvement in drugs or any inappropriate behavior.
Krista Lee disputes claims of Bob Lee's party lifestyle
Krista Lee, Bob Lee's ex-wife, refuted claims that her former husband was a "party boy" and stated that she had never heard of 'The Lifestyle' before. "He was a dedicated father. He was more mature than that," she insisted as per New York Post. Moreover, Momeni confronted Lee about his sister's participation in the early hours of April 4, in his partying and excessive behavior, leading to a heated argument. Prosecutors claim that Lee was stabbed multiple times during the confrontation. Reportedly, Lee staggered around seeking assistance before eventually collapsing near the Bay Bridge, just 16 minutes away from Khazar's apartment.
An autopsy report revealed, the late tech executive, had a combination of drugs and alcohol in his system at the time he was fatally stabbed. The San Francisco Medical Examiner listed ketamine, cocaine, and alcohol in the victim's system. According to court documents, around the time of Lee's murder, Khazar sent him a text message expressing concern for his well-being, acknowledging her brother's harsh treatment towards him. The message read, "Just wanted to make sure you're doing ok Cause I know Nima came wayyyyyy down hard on you. And thank you for being such a class and manhandling it with class. Love you Selfish pricks." Momeni has been in custody without bail since his arrest and could face 26 years to life in prison if convicted of murder.
