What is Black Sands Entertainment?

While our History textbooks teach us about slavery, what it fails to highlight is the rich cultural heritage that was wiped away due to forced slavery and colonization when people were brought in from Africa. With the aim of educating the mass about the rich culture and history of  Africa, Black Sands Entertainment was founded in 2016. The publishing house publishes comics, children's books, novels, etc. But what sets Black Sands Entertainment apart from the other comic book houses is its emphasis on African mythology and featuring Black protagonists and the culture of people of color. Aside from publishing comics, the brand also also advises and encourages independent artists and writers who can publish through Black Sands.

"We offer a strong focus on history before slavery and the rich legacies our African ancestors left us. We fight everyday to counter the Hollywood agenda-based narrative.," states the brand's website.

Who are the founders?

Husband and wife duo Manuel and Geiszel Godoy, and Teunis De Raat, are the founders of Black Sands Entertainment. As the creator of Kids 2 Kings and Sons of Nibiru, Manuel, who is also the president of the brand, always had a knack for running a team and eventually a business. Once he finished his degree in Economics, he started looking at production and creativity from an economic perspective. This focus has led to the rapid growth of Black Sands Entertainment, self-publishing four unique titles in 2017 and planning on releasing 8 more by the end of 2018. His wife Geiszel, who is also an author, joined the team in August of 2017 by creating Mori's Family Adventures. Her focus on traditional families and organization has brought her extreme success in the genre. "The family unit is untapped in today's society because everyone wants to entertain either the child or the parent. Why can't we do both and educate them as well?" she questions.

What is the cost and where to buy Black Sands Entertainment comics from?

The comic books range from $8.99 to $20, based on the book you choose. You can get your very own copy of comics either from the brand's website here or their app.

Where is Black Sands Entertainment now?

Since its launch in 2016, Black Sands Entertainment has established itself as the number one Black publishing house in the country. According to the brand's website they sold over 100,000 books, have 1500+ investors from the black and brown community, boast of 1900 patrons subscribers, and several five-star reviews and followers on social media!

Who will steal the deal?

Guest Shark Kevin Hart might close this deal based on the brand's emphasis on promoting Black culture and history amongst its primary demographic of Black readers. Although the brand's sales numbers and profit margins will ultimately be the major deciding factor for the sharks on whether to invest in the business or not. So, we will just have to wait and watch to see if the Sharks even make a deal.
