Since the past few episodes, it seemed as if Ryan Henry and Charmaine Walker had finally moved on from their past rift. But from the preview, it is clear that they haven't spoken about certain issues. These issues have now snowballed and are all set to make a massive dent on their newfound friendship.

Charmaine accuses Ryan of giving quotes against her in newspapers, which Ryan denies. In the confessional, Charmaine read this quote out: "I just feel like we don't share the same space. She is not my equal." Ryan clearly touched a raw nerve. Comments such as these are sure to take Charmaine back to the times at 9mag when she was ridiculed and humiliated for not bringing enough skills to the table. This was exactly why she had opened up her new shop, 2nd City Ink, with Jessica as a fitting response to the unfair exit she has had to make from 9mag.

Ryan and Charmaine's revived friendship was extremely refreshing. The way he was there for her when she was mourning the loss of her mother, Glenda Walker, had everyone believe that this new equation would continue, no matter what. However, it only lasted a short while.

In other news, Jessica seemed to have moved on and is meeting with colleagues and friends from the ink industry in London. She says how different the two cities are — London appreciates skill while Chicago doesn't acknowledge good work. Meanwhile, Draya gets informed that the tattoo shop license fiasco is yet to be fixed.

In this episode, we are shown how worried Charmaine gets on learning that her tattoo parlor has not been registered. She is now the talk of the town and is also being written about  in a news article. Van Johnson (with whom she shares a dark past and hasn't spoken in six months) steps in to help her but she turns it down saying she appreciates the offer but she would like her past to stay in the past.

With Jessica leaving the scene and the parlor functioning without a proper license, is everything going south for 2nd City Ink? Only time will tell.
