LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Yuki Tabata's 'Black Clover' garnered legions of fans with the manga and then the anime series. With his stamp of approval, Netflix succeeded in creating an original story that focused on three evil wizard kings and their quest to create a new world.

Netflix's 'Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King' offered a fresh yet very nostalgic take on Asta's battles and struggles to survive as someone with no-magic in an all-magical kingdom. Fans were looking forward to the release of the movie and believe it did maintain the original spirit of the characters but could have done better in terms of its villains. One of the most interesting aspects of the movie was the villains' motives and the kind of vengeance they sought against the Clover Kingdom.

'Conrad has clear motivations'

A majority of fans were satisfied with Conrad Leto's motives and how he was portrayed in the movie. A Twitter user said, "The real good thing about Conrad is, despite being submerged into despair & blinded by hatred & revenge When he saw his pendant, he understood he's trying to avenge his squad but doing so he'll kill asta's friends & make him go through same pain."

Praising Conrad as a great antagonist, a user said, "#BlackCloverSOTWK Truly was a wonderful movie. The visuals, voice acting, music, action, and the main villain it was all grear. Conrad was a great antagonist. I wish we could've seen even more of him. My bias score is 11/10, but if I'd be honest its probably 8.5-9/10 for me."

Fans felt the background stories of all the four wizard kings could have been explored more. They felt they were provided very brief glimpses of Edward, Princia and Jester's past and what drove their decision to go on a rampage across the kingdom and that more time could have been devoted towards their origin stories.

'The other three really suffered from the lack of exploration'

A Reddit user penned that while they were satisfied with what was done with Conrad, not enough was done for the other wizard kings. The user wrote, "For Conrad what we got was acceptable but the other three really suffered from the lack of exploration."

Another reddit user added, "It's understandable why they would have to cut it, but still, now I wish we got to see all their backstories more directly in animated form."

Another user claimed the story would have been better if additional minutes were added to explain the backgrounds of the villains. The user penned, "Yea def I feel like 20 more mins wouldve been good, maybe 5-6 mins explaining the villains backstories and ambitions a little more and the rest kind of just explaining the plan and a little more dialogue but still amazing."

Another user mentioned that even just flashbacks of the three wizard kings' pasts would have been good. They said, "Yeah this movie needed like 20~ minutes of exposition or buildup, or downtime somewhere. It was basically nonstop action. When we immediately got to the fight starting in the stadium I was like "damn are they just going to brawl the entire movie?" lol. Even just flashbacks of the former wizard kings woulda been nice."
