LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The debut of Netflix's 'Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King' has managed to keep long-time fans of the Manga and the series excited. With the movie being a completely original script and the focus being on historical figures coming back to life seeking redemption, the story had much more potential to offer in terms of its ending.

While the initiation of the movie started on a great note and a glimpse of Asta and Yuno's friendship is seen on screen, there is a threat of former wizard kings coming to life and damaging the Clover Kingdom looming over each and every citizen. While the cause behind their intentions is not clear, it is visible that these four wizard kings want to establish maximum power and domination while creating a new world order.

What is 'Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King' about?

The film is about a boy named Asta who was born in an all-magical kingdom without possessing any power himself. Even though he succeeds in yielding anti-magic, he was able to do so entirely based on his own merit. The new Netflix movie, however, deviates from his journey and concerns itself about threats from former wizard kings who were once shunned by the citizens and noble families.

The greater part of the movie takes place in different enraging battlefields because Asta's squad wants him to fight Conrad so that his 'Imperial Sword' can be neutralized through his 'Demon Slayer Sword'. The squad keeps the remaining wizard kings occupied as Asta and Conrad continue to explore the similarities in ideals. While Conrad extends an invitation to Asta to join him in his quest to create a new world, he is also adamant in making Asta believe that they share the same thoughts and want to be the same type of king.

How does it end between Conrad and Asta?

Conrad does succeed in confusing Asta about his beliefs. However, Asta soon realizes the kind of an egotistical maniac he is and continues to fight despite being deeply injured. The final thirty minutes of the movie succeed in showing the reason behind fans loving the character of Asta and his never-ending willpower. While citizens of Clover Kingdom already had their magic taken by Conrad and were trying to flee to a nearby kingdom, Asta being a non-magical being himself continued to motivate the others to join him on the battlefield.

A major twist in the ending was the initiation of 'Doom's Gate' by Conrad which shocked Asta and the others to the core. However, Conrad soon realizes that the future of the kingdom is in great hands and rests without worrying anymore about his domination. While the movie depicted a closed ending, it also hinted hope for Asta that he might become a rightful wizard king in the future. Being a wizard king is something Asta has aspired for all his life, and Julius gave him that hope by saying that the power of all the former wizard kings is with him. 'Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King' is available on Netflix from June 16, 2023.
