BET Awards 2020: John Legend delivers an emotional rendition of ‘Never Break’, fans say, ‘he got us in tears’

BET Awards 2020 has an interesting line-up of performances for its 20th annual event which is currently streaming on CBS. The virtual event, celebrating achievements in entertainment and honoring music, sports, television, and movies. has brought together some of the most talented artists to entertain the viewers with their powerful performances. 

One such note-worthy performance tonight (June 28) was delivered by John Legend, who performed a beautiful and emotional rendition of ‘Never Break’. Going by what fans are saying on Twitter, the ‘All of Me’ singer has managed to tug at the heartstrings of the people who are watching BET Awards. One of his fans took to Twitter to write, “This #betawards2020 is so different lol! John Legend’s performance was dope asf!I loved it! The song is." While another added, “John Legend may not have been able to take the stage at a live BET Awards show, but his performance of 'Never Break' was still show stopping.”

“Just watched @johnlegend on the #BETAwards performing Never Break... such a powerful song. I literally watched with tears in my eyes.” tweeted another emotional fan. Stating the lyrics one impressed fan tweeted, “WE WILL NEVER BREAK! Build on our foundation that’s stronger than the pain...WE WILL NEVER BREAK...As the water rises and the mountain shakes, we will remain...WE WILL NEVER BREAK!!...Black heart Thank U John Legend #BETAwards2020.”

Meanwhile, one fan is of the opinion that Legend’s performance headlined tonight’s show and that anybody who didn’t watch him perform ‘Never Break’ missed out on a lot. “John Legend is so incredibly talented. He makes such meaningful songs and has the most beautiful performances everytime. You are missing out if you aren’t streaming Bigger Love #BETAwards,” read the tweet. 

Legend along with DJ Khaled and Nipsey Hussle won the Video of the Year Award their song ‘Higher’. Many of them have expressed on Twitter that the trio deserved the win. 

While one wrote, “Ok see I can't even be mad cause Chris's didn't win.  But I'm glad nip  DJ Khaled and John legend won”. Another added, “Congrats to DJ Khaled. John Legend, and Nipsey Hussle for winning Video of the Year for "Higher"!!!! REST IN POWER NIPSEY HUSSLE” wrote one addressing the late rapper.
