The 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air', played by Will Smith in the former's beloved NBC comedy, is going to come back to the silver screen after a hiatus of 24 years, in a reboot titled 'Bel-Air'.

But this time the tale of the streetwise teen who moved in with his upper-class uncle and aunt will not be a comedy. The new version will be based on a viral YouTube trailer that reimagined the series as a hard-hitting drama. Sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that the new 'Bel-Air' show has been in the works for more than a year now, after the four-minute Youtube clip went viral on social media, after it was posted in March 2019 and caught Smith's attention. The series is currently being shopped to streamers. According to sources, Peacock, Netflix and HBO Max are among the streamers who are bidding on the potential series. HBO Max is the current streaming home for the original series.
