'Bel-air': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' reboot starring Will Smith
The 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air', played by Will Smith in the former's beloved NBC comedy, is going to come back to the silver screen after a hiatus of 24 years, in a reboot titled 'Bel-Air'.
But this time the tale of the streetwise teen who moved in with his upper-class uncle and aunt will not be a comedy. The new version will be based on a viral YouTube trailer that reimagined the series as a hard-hitting drama. Sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that the new 'Bel-Air' show has been in the works for more than a year now, after the four-minute Youtube clip went viral on social media, after it was posted in March 2019 and caught Smith's attention. The series is currently being shopped to streamers. According to sources, Peacock, Netflix and HBO Max are among the streamers who are bidding on the potential series. HBO Max is the current streaming home for the original series.

Plot
According to Hollywood Reporter, "'Bel-Air' is described as a dramatic take on the beloved '90s comedy that catapulted Smith to stardom over six seasons starring as the street-smart kid who moved from West Philly to the tony Los Angeles neighborhood. With a reimagined vision, 'Bel-Air' will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases of what it means to be a Black man in America today, while still delivering the swagger and fun nods to the original show."

Willard Carroll Smith Jr known as Will Smith is an actor, producer and rapper. Smith has won four Grammy Awards and two Academy Awards. His work in the six-season series, 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' made him tremendously famous. After the series, he went on to become a star in numerous blockbuster films becoming the only actor to have eight consecutive movies to cross the $100 million mark in the domestic box office. Apart from this, he was in news back in 2008 when he donated $4,600 to the 2008 presidential campaign of Democrat Barack Obama. He also stated support in legalizing same-sex marriages back in 2012.
Creators
Will Smith, Quincy Jones, Benny Medina, Andy, Susan Borowitz will be the Executive Producers. Andy and Susan Borowitz are also the creators of the show. Chris Collins (The Wire, Crash, Sons of Anarchy) will serve as showrunner, exec producer and is set to co-write the script alongside Morgan Cooper.

The latest trailer of the show is not out yet but Morgan Cooper being a 'Fresh Prince' superfan, created and directed the trailer that reimagined the series as if it were a drama. He released the alternative trailer last year.
