'Be Our Chef': Platt family's Baymax-themed, avocado-mochi icecream sandwich serves them much deserved win

Talking about the dish, judge Amanda said, "I get the nice chocolate from the cake top. It kind of mixes nicely with the raspberry sauce. It gives a nice tart finish"

A Disney-themed bake-off featuring healthy sweet treats. What's not to love? Disney Plus returned with an all-new episode of 'Be Our Chef' that saw the Wells and Platt families battle it out at the kitchen counter.

Both were tasked with the challenge of baking healthy items inspired by the 'Big Hero 6' character Baymax. Of course, they weren't neck-deep in fondant and kept it simple to look at. No complicated or over-the-top shapes were involved.

While the Platt family chose avocado and mochi as the basis of their icecream sandwich sweetened with honey, the Wells' baked a strawberry tart that drew its sweetness from coconut sugar. The plating of both the teams was in keeping with the theme. The Platt used a mold to add Baymax's facial features on top of the sandwich, whereas the Wells surrounded their mainstay with chopped up strawberries and a flower cut out of the fruit to represent the microbots from the Disney film.

Chef chocolatier Amanda of Dinsey Springs was invited over to judge the baked goods. While she loved both the items, she preferred the avocado ice cream sandwich a bit more.

Talking about the Mochi-Max (Platts' dish), Amanda said she liked the texture of the cake. "I get the nice chocolate from the cake top. It kind of mixes nicely with the raspberry sauce. It gives a nice tart finish," Amanda further added.

However, she wanted a bit more sweetness from it because the mochi gave it an earthy flavor.

But the Microbot Tart (by the Wells) wasn't too far behind with regards to taste and presentation. Amanda enjoyed the different ways in which the family tried to add sweetness to their dish. "I think what I like overall is the different textures. The crunchy from the crust, a little bit of soft from the chocolate and then the cream on top. Very, very nice," she pointed.

While it appeared that the Wells would take the cake (figuratively) but Amanda announced the Platts as the winners of the episode.
